It's either wrap up or grow up for Yellowstone at this point, fans say.

Looks like fans' honeymoon with the Paramount show is over. Halfway into the fifth season, Yellowstone still fails to deliver meaningful development to its story and characters, fans argue, demanding that the show either offer something new eventually or name season 5 its last and call it quits.

There are just too many things that are wrong with the show, according to fans.

First of all, the plotline about the Duttons trying to save the ranch from development has been "dragged out for too long" without any development, and the characters also lack any evolution that would make the entire process interesting to watch.

"Beth is still petty and vindictive and needs therapy [...], Jamie is still a power-hungry coward. Casey and Monica are still angsty and ambivalent about how they fit in with the other Duttons. John is still controlling, sh**ty to his kids, narrow-minded, and selfish. Rip is still just John's "yes man" and sticks up for Beth no matter what," Redditor AwkwardBlaque concluded.

The rest of the characters are not only not growing but also don't really matter for the storyline, which makes it useless to even root for them, the fan continued.

At this point, stagnation makes fans want to just "check out" and not even finish the season unless something finally changes. According to fans, there are two ways for Yellowstone now: either wrap up after season 5, or "get new plots" as soon as possible.

Yellowstone Episode 6 Might Finally Kill Someone Off

Other Redditors agree, noting that Yellowstone has degraded into "bad fanfiction" and "mega cringe" despite its good start.

With season 5 set to be split into two seven-episode parts, there is still time for Yellowstone to catch up with fans' high standards and save the story — or, as people suggest, make season 5 the final one.

New episode of Yellowstone is set to arrive on Paramount Network on Sunday, December 11.
