At the beginning of The Big Bang Theory nobody could think that it would become one the most successful sitcoms in the history of TV and have its own equally successful spin-off.

So there were some decisions made casting-wise that could have compromised the entirety of Young Sheldon. Fortunately, it went unnoticed up until recently when some hawk-eyed fans noticed it.

Just as the title reads, there was an overlap of actors on the two shows. And it is not the case of the same background actors, no.

A member of Young Sheldon's main cast played a minor part on The Big Bang Theory. If you don't know already, can you guess who that was?

In the eleventh episode of season 5 Speckerman reappeared in Leonard's life and wanted to talk business with him.

But with the help of Sheldon, Jimmy learned that he had made high school a living hell for Leonard and was given a list of all the offenses he had committed.

Young Sheldon: George Cheating May Not Be the Worst Thing Ever After All

After getting drunk, Speckerman came to Leonard and Sheldon's apartment and asked for forgiveness. However, he didn't remember doing it in the morning and was thrown out of the two scientists' place.

It happened back in 2011 when the idea of Young Sheldon hadn't yet been conceived. So, such short-sightedness of the franchise's producers is forgivable.

Besides, Lance wore a blonde wig for the role Speckerman. It's not surprising people didn't notice anything when he appeared on The Big Bang Theory as George Sr. in one of Sheldon's tapes.

Sadly, Sheldon's father was dead by then and was not shown in the flesh.

Young Sheldon Cast Salary is a Far Cry From Big Bang Theory Paychecks

Little did anybody notice when they first saw Lance Barber on Young Sheldon either.

He was just a generic George Sr. without a "rap sheet" saying he had been Jimmy Speckerman on the original show more than half a decade before.

Next time you re-watch The Big Bang Theory don't be confused by Lance Barber's portrayal of Jimmy Speckerman! Consider it a major blooper, like a coffee cup in an episode of Game of Thrones.

After all, Lance Barber is a great actor and suits the role of George Cooper Sr. perfectly well.
