Justice for the cast has been served.

Summary:

  • The Big Bang Theory captivated viewers with its science-based humor and charming cast of relatable characters.
  • Over the years, however, the show focused more and more on Sheldon Cooper and less and less on everyone else.
  • Young Sheldon, on the other hand, rebalanced the show and made it about the entire Cooper family.

To say that The Big Bang Theory found a real gem in Jim Parsons would be an understatement. Since being brought to light by the sitcom, the actor has proven to have a wide range that deserves recognition. It's also not that surprising that his brilliance completely stole the show in what was supposed to be an ensemble.

Although many people still see Sheldon as nothing more than a bully who takes pleasure in making his friends miserable, there's no denying that he was an incredibly entertaining character to watch on screen. However, as The Big Bang Theory progressed, he became increasingly difficult to stomach. Luckily, Young Sheldom found a way to balance things out.

Is Sheldon Cooper The Big Bang Theory’s Main Character?

Although the comic CBS sitcom began with an ensemble cast of five main characters and a few supporting ones, it became clear that Sheldon stood out the most. The show managed to create many viral memes in the 2010s thanks to him, and he became the face of the show.

The only problem was that too much Sheldon meant that he was acting more and more unhinged, and it was hard to watch at times. That's when he got the bully reputation, and that's why the idea of creating a prequel spinoff focusing solely on his persona initially felt off to many viewers and wasn't met with much enthusiasm.

As we all know by now, Young Sheldon has been even more successful than the show it came from. The relatable premise of an average family struggling through life in the middle of Texas in the 90's appealed to many viewers, whether they watched The Big Bang Theory or just tuned in.

There are many things that added up to Young Sheldon's runaway success, but the most important of them all is the way the show moved away from Sheldon's persona and focused more on the people that affected him from the outside, his family.

Unlike The Big Bang Theory's mistakes, Sheldon's craziness is limited to a small portion of his screen time, which keeps it funny instead of making fans constantly annoyed with his behavior. As for Jim Parsons, he's still there, behind the scenes, telling the story from a more mature point of view. And he fits the role well.

Young Sheldon is coming to the end of his 7-season journey. So if you don't want to miss the grand finale, be sure to tune in to CBS every Thursday to make sure you don't miss another episode.
