Team Startefacts

K-dramas, the weekly "wait, what happened at the end" problem, and the Lifestyle desk whenever a story involves a video game.

I've been at Startefacts since 2024. Before that I spent two years doing subtitle QA for corporate training videos, which is why I watch everything with subtitles on, even in English, and why I notice when Netflix's subtitles say something different from its dub. I started Crash Landing on You to understand what my sister was talking about at dinner, finished it in a week, and now I'm the one talking at dinner.

What I cover: K-dramas — the new ones, the ones ranked by IMDb because you asked, the Joseon ones with the hats; ending explainers for whatever Netflix and Disney+ dropped on Friday; where a show was actually filmed, and whether it's based on a novel (usually it's a webtoon); and on the Lifestyle side, video games when they leak, get delayed, or put a rapper in Fortnite.

Things I hold firm on: the Reply 1988 ending was correct, second-lead syndrome is a real condition, and sixteen episodes is the right length for almost everything. Things I don't: any ranking of mine older than the date on it.

How I work: I watch the whole series before I explain the ending — not the last episode and a wiki. IMDb scores get pulled the day I write and the date goes in the piece. For filming locations I find the actual place, not a fan blog's guess. For "based on a book" I name the book and the author. For game leaks I say which kind it is: a studio statement, a known insider, or a guy on a red carpet.

Where else to find me: X, and a MyDramaList account with 300-odd titles watched and a plan-to-watch list I'm not going to get to. Corrections welcome. Recommendations also welcome, but I've probably seen it.

Survivor: Vanuatu is the 2004 season everyone remembers for the wrong reasons first: battle of the sexes, round two, on a volcanic island chain, with a women's alliance so dominant they made up six of the final seven.

How many seasons of Slow Horses will there be? Gary Oldman has named the two things that decide it
Slow Horses is the rarest thing on television: a prestige show that actually shows up. Six seasons in four years, no three-year "we're crafting the vision" gaps, no apology posts.

In 2003, CBS dumped sixteen people off a boat near Panama in their street clothes, called it a pirate theme, and accidentally produced the greatest season of Survivor ever made.

Twenty-eight years is a long time to wait for a sequel, but here we are: Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back in theaters as the Owens sisters, and I have already mentally redecorated my apartment in Full Witch.

Sound of Falling ending explained: what happens on the farm in each of the four eras
Mascha Schilinski's Sound of Falling won the Jury Prize at Cannes — the first German director to pull that off since 1959 — and then spent its release making audiences feel like they'd been handed someone else's dream journal with the pages shuffled.

Why did D.N.X disband in My Bias, My Boss? The show kept the reason back until episode 10 of 12
My Bias, My Boss sold itself as fluff: a fangirl gets a job at her idol's fashion startup, accidentally falls for the grumpy CEO instead, hijinks. The tvN rom-com, which wrapped its 12-episode run on September 8, delivered all of that on schedule.

Who plays Janice in A Remarkable Place to Die? The name, and where you've seen the actor before
Let's be honest about why we all watch A Remarkable Place to Die: fifty percent murder, fifty percent drone shots of Queenstown that function as unpaid advertising for New Zealand's tourism board.
