A second season is now officially in the works for Seth Rogen’s The Studio, which means the show will introduce another bunch of celebs passing by Continental Studios. The first season, however, already boasts of an iconic collection of guest stars — let’s look at them all.

Seth Rogen’s cringe comedy drama The Studio has been dominating Apple TV+ ever since the show’s first episode dropped there back in March, and it seems like more problems are coming in Matt Remick’s way in a recently greenlit second season.

Following Rogen’s character through the hardships of the movie studio head job, The Studio doesn’t miss a slightest chance to see him clashing with the industry’s biggest names, and some of those movie legends have now cemented their status with another legendary role in the hit show.

So far, the series featured a whole lot of celebs playing themselves, but only some of them are the reason The Studio’s fans will be rewatching those episodes over and over again.

10. Peter Berg

Friday Night Lights’ director Peter Berg is one of the first celebrities featured in The Studio’s season 1 episode 1, appearing as the director of a film starring Paul Dano.

Berg’s role also hints at Matt Remick’s future issues with lots of moviemakers he will be collaborating with when the former completely ignores Matt’s suggestions about the movie’s plot, saying that the team is perfectly fine with their own ideas.

9. Paul Dano

The actor shines in The Studio’s very first scene featuring a shooting process of the movie directed by Peter Burg.

In fact, Dano makes a perfect comical introduction with his spitting method and gets some kind of homage from the show when his directorial debut Wildlife is mentioned.

8. Charlize Theron

The actress steals the show with just one line “Get the f—k out of here” in The Studio’s first episode where Rogen’s Matt desperately tries to find a way to deliver Martin Scorsese the news about his Jonestown massacre movie never happening after all.

When the cult director breaks down into tears, Theron, who hosted a party, has no other choice but to kick Matt and vice president Sal Saperstein out of her house.

7. Greta Lee

Past Lives’ actress shows up in episode 2 of the show’s first season, starring in a movie the shooting process of which is continuously interrupted by Matt’s visit.

Lee, however, doesn’t mind him being on set as she gets a chance to ask him for a private jet, which wasn’t an option for her Past Lives press tour back in the day.

6. Adam Scott

Severance’s actor is one of the frontrunners for the Golden Globe at the ceremony happening in The Studio’s episode 8.

He does in fact win the award and accidentally starts a hilarious and viral trend when he decides to thank Ike Barinholtz’s Sal Saperstein in his acceptance speech.

This is a punch to Matt’s gut, especially since he spent a half of the show trying to get that ‘thank you’ for himself.

5. Anthony Mackie

Mackie stars in The Studio’s episode 3, coming as the lead star of legendary Ron Howard’s new movie titled Alphabet City.

He then gets involved in Matt’s attempts to convince Howard that the 40-minute-long motel sequence needs a cut, even though this particular scene might have a special personal meaning for the director.

4. Zac Efron

Efron is the leading star of Olivia Wilde’s new film in a detective-themed episode 4 of The Studio’s first season, making it to the list of the suspects when a reel with precious scenes from Wilde’s upcoming film goes missing.

Matt and Sal embark on their own investigation, eventually ending up with unexpected results.

3. Zoë Kravitz

The actress-director is also one of the nominees for a Golden Globe in episode 8, causing a problem for Matt when it’s revealed she’s not going to thank him in her acceptance speech.

The outcome is better than Matt expected, though Sal’s acknowledgement still sounds louder anyway.

2. Olivia Wilde

Wilde shows up in The Studio’s episode 4 as the director of a movie helmed by Continental Studios who reaches out to Matt when a reel with some of the future film’s perfect scenes has seemingly been stolen.

Eventually, both Matt and Sal come to a shocking conclusion, but it’s Wilde completely losing it in final scenes that makes the episode one of the gems in the show’s stock of hilarious celebrity moments.

1. Martin Scorsese

The legendary director’s character change is what proved The Studio a future phenomenon in the very first episode.

Scorsese stars as, well, himself pitching his next and potentially last movie about the Jonestown massacre, not knowing yet that Matt will be trying to turn it into a Kool-Aid adaptation instead.

When the plan fails and Scorsese’s idea doesn’t get an approval, his toddler-ish reaction is what makes the scene all the way more absurd and cringey, but still the best of it all.
