It’s going to be a good year for k-drama fans.

The most anticipated event in the k-drama world in 2024 is undoubtedly the release of the second season of Squid Game. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't pay attention to other releases – we can expect new seasons of other Korean hits, a drama about the end of the world, and a show inspired by Elite.

1. The Trunk, 2024

A special marriage agency called NM can arrange your personal life with any person you want. The main romantic line of the show is between the director of this agency and the music producer.

The first does not believe in marriage, and the second believes that any marriage is a deception. Adding to the intrigue of the story is a mysterious chest that contains secrets about the work of the NM company.

The main role in The Trunk is played by Gong Yoo, whom you may have seen in Squid Game as the Salesman.

In Korea, people are visited by scary supernatural beings called angels. They tell a person the specific time when they will die. At the appointed hour, the monsters come and beat and then burn the victim.

Several such cases are filmed, and panic spreads throughout the country. Detective Jin Kyeong-hoon takes on the investigation of supernatural crimes and contacts the leader of the New Truth sect. Plot details for the second season are still unknown.

The drama was released on Netflix in 2021 and became the most popular project on the streaming service – surpassing even Squid Game in the first 24 hours.

When Cha Hyun-su’s family dies in a car accident, he is left alone in his new apartment. On top of that, people start dying and mutating from a mysterious disease. In order to survive, Cha Hyun-su is forced to join forces with his neighbors.

In the third season, the characters will continue to fight monsters outside of the Green Home housing complex.

The first season of the show became a hit, but the second season was not as well received, so the creators have a chance to fix the mistakes and finish the series without disappointing the fans.

5. Aema, 2024

The events of the series are dedicated to the creation of the movie Madame Aema, and to Jeong Hui-ran. Shel was the best actress of the time, but lost the lead role in the movie due to a conflict with the producer.

Madame Aema was one of the first erotic movies in South Korea, made with the sole purpose of reviving the dying film industry with its controversial topics. The film spawned a new genre for the country, and Madame Aema itself received 12 sequels, making it the longest running franchise in Korea.

All of Us Are Dead is one of the most successful Korean series on Netflix. The first season was released in 2022 and immediately topped the Netflix world ratings in terms of views, becoming the third South Korean hit after Squid Game and Hellbound.

The reason for this is the gripping plot, which takes place almost in one place. Since most of the town and the school were destroyed at the end of the first season, the creators will have to create new memorable settings for Season 2.
