We’ll be saying goodbye to our favorite clones, pirates, gangsters, and vampires.

  1. Julia (Max)

Sarah Lancashire made a career-defining turn as celebrity chef Julia Child in this bio-series. David Hyde Pierce played both her husband and his own twin brother. Unfortunately stellar acting and great reviews wasn’t enough to get this series renewed for a third year.

  1. The Good Doctor ( ABC)

Based on the South Korean series of the same name, this ABC drama follows the work of Dr. Shaun Murphy, an autistic surgeon whose brilliance is occasionally interrupted by his lack of social awareness. The Good Doctor is about to enter its seventh season, but ABC has since announced that this year will be the last one for the medical drama.

  1. American Born Chinese (Disney+ )

Based on the popular graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang, this fantasy-action-comedy follows a tenth grader trying to fit in with his American peers. Jin Wang often battles with insecurities around his identity, but that has to take a backseat when he is unexpectedly thrust into a war between mythical Chinese figures.

  1. Our Flag Means Death (Max)

In some ways it’s amazing that this weird, hilarious, joyfully queer show about sensitive pirates even made it to a second season. The show’s creative team must have known that a third season was a long shot; although there were some promising paths left open at the end of season 2, overall it wrapped everything up quite neatly.

  1. The Brothers Sun (Netflix )

Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh stars as “Mama Sun”. She and her youngest son, Bruce, are living in America where they are separated from the work of their Taiwanese crime family. But when the head of the family dies in a gang war, her older son Charles heads to the States to protect his mother and younger brother from the threat heading their way.

Yeoh was reportedly heartbroken at the news that this fantastic action-comedy-bromance wouldn’t be getting renewed, and we can’t blame her.

  1. Evil (Paramount+)

Kristen Bouchard is a clinical psychologist who doesn’t believe in the supernatural. When she is approached by a priest in training and a blue collar contractor looking into a backlog of paranormal claims made to the Catholic Church, she is pulled into questions about the nature of evil and the possibility of a higher power.

Critics and audiences alike adored this series, and it’s unfortunate that its viewership on Paramount+ wasn’t higher – it is ending after the fourth season, which premieres this May. Luckily the streamer ordered an additional four episodes to wrap up the storyline.

  1. Rap Sh!t (Max)

This Issa Rae-created comedy series follows two high school friends who reconnect decades later. Now both mothers, they make a tongue-in-cheek hip hop video that goes viral – so they decide to attempt a real attempt at a career as a rap duo.

Like many on this list, Rap Sh!it received critical praise but not enough viewers to extend it into a second season.

  1. Schmigadoon! (Apple TV+ )

Fans were heartbroken to learn that Schmigadoon’s third season was completely written (including more than 20 original songs) before Apple TV pulled the plug. It was always a niche show for theater nerds, but couldn’t they have given us just one more?

  1. Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Disney+)

You can’t blame Star Wars fatigue for this one – in spite of the glut of LucasFilms content, animated series The Bad Batch got good ratings and pretty high viewership. Perhaps the writers simply knew that three years was enough to wrap up this particular storyline. After this upcoming season we’ll be saying goodbye to our favorite clones… for now, anyway. If there’s one thing the Star Wars universe is good at, it’s dragging characters back for more.

  1. What We Do in the Shadows (FX)

This majestically bizarre and upsettingly funny sitcom follows a household of vampires living with old school vampire values in a modern-day Staten Island. Based on Taika Waititi ’s 2014 film of the same name, the show has seen a slow decline in viewership over the last few seasons. The upcoming Season 6 will be the last for the show.
