11 ‘Young Sheldon’ Characters, Ranked by How Much They Deserve Their Own Spinoff

The Big Bang universe keeps expanding with Georgie & Mandy. Here are 11 more spinoff ideas, based on Young Sheldon characters, ranked.
With Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage hitting our screens, it's clear that CBS isn't ready to say goodbye to the Cooper extended family just yet. The success of Young Sheldon as a prequel to The Big Bang Theory opened up a lot of opportunities for other spinoffs.
Today we're looking into 11 Young Sheldon characters who deserve their own spinoff shows, ranked from “maybe” to “absolutely need this on my screen ASAP.”
11. Grant Linkletter
Dr. Grant Linkletter is that awkward professor who had a thing for Meemaw. Ed Begley Jr. brought such a delightful nervousness to the role that we can't help but wonder what his life was like beyond his Young Sheldon days. A spinoff could show us how he became the quirky scientist we met.
Would we watch it? Without Meemaw to bounce off of, it wouldn’t be that interesting, which is why he's sitting at number 11 on our list.
10. Sheryl Hutchins
Sheryl Hutchins is that lonely librarian at Medford High who actually vibes with Sheldon. She's a sad but relatable adult. A spinoff could dig into her dating life (or lack thereof) and friendship with other faculty misfits.
Would we watch it? Maybe if they threw in some of our favorite characters in there as well. Still, she's interesting enough for a few episodes, not a whole series.
9. John Sturgis
Everyone's favorite awkward genius professor! His relationship with Meemaw gave us a lot of adorable moments. We'd watch how Dr. Sturgis deals with academia and treis (and fails) to understand social cues.
Would we watch it? We wouldn't cancel plans, but we would definitely enjoy it.
8. Tam Nguyen
Sheldon's first real friend deserves better than being forgotten in The Big Bang universe! His Vietnamese family navigating life in 80s Texas could be gold. Tam's dry humor and no-nonsense attitude would make for some killer TV.
Would we watch it? This is definitely a spinoff we'd binge on a weekend.
7. Brenda Sparks
The single mom dealing with her personal drama? Yes please! Brenda Sparks, Billy's mom, is honestly TV gold waiting to happen.
Would we watch it? Absolutely. Brenda's no-nonsense attitude mixed with her vulnerability makes her an interesting character to explore.
6. Paige Swanson
Paige Swanson (the child prodigy who's even smarter than Sheldon) would make for an incredible lead character.
Would we watch it? Yep! A Paige-centered show could explore the darker side of being a child genius: the isolation and the struggle to just be a normal kid.
5. Pastor Jeff
Pastor Jeff trying to keep his cool while dealing with his own messy life? Sign us up! This small-town Texas preacher constantly walking the line between being spiritual and just being human would be hilarious.
Would we watch it? His wholesome yet slightly clueless approach to life's problems would make for some genuinely funny and heartwarming moments. Definitely worth a Sunday night slot.
4. Veronica Duncan
Veronica had a lot of potential, but unfortunately her character wasn't explored that much in Young Sheldon.
Would we watch it? For sure. Seeing how a troubled kid figures life out and becomes the person she's meant to be would make for some seriously good television.
3. Young Mary Cooper
We've heard so much about wild young Mary that it's basically criminal we haven't seen it. A show about party-girl Mary, her unexpected pregnancy and how she ended up with George would be so entertaining.
Would we watch it? Without a doubt! The contrast between young Mary and the God-fearing mom we know would be fascinating.
2. Missy Cooper
Sheldon's twin sister has been living in her brother's shadow way too long. A Missy-centered spinoff would give us her perspective on growing up Cooper and figuring out who she is when she's not just “Sheldon's sister.”
Would we watch it? Absolutely. Missy's sass would make her the perfect lead for a coming-of-age story set in small-town Texas.
1. Meemaw (Connie Tucker)
If there's one character from Young Sheldon who absolutely deserves their own show, it's Meemaw. Annie Potts crushed it as the sassy, no-filter grandmother we all wish we had.
A Meemaw spinoff could dive into her younger years or even her life running that laundromat. We'd finally get answers about her mysterious past and how she became who we knew in Young Sheldon.
Would we watch it? Please. We'd cancel plans for this. Meemaw's one-liners alone could carry an entire series, not to mention her complicated love life and secret heart of gold.
