Without a doubt, 2023 was one of the strongest years in television history in a long time, with streaming services once again proving their dominance over traditional networks and the likes of HBO and FX still managing to premiere a bunch of great, if not genius, shows.

Obviously, the list is full of last year's big hits, most of which were anticipated for months or even years before their premieres. No one really doubted that The Last of Us, The Fall of the House of Usher, and the fourth season of Succession would be great.
That said, there were a lot of surprises in 2023 – the overwhelming popularity of The Night Agent was apparently not even expected by Netflix itself, as the show became one of the signature action series of the entire year, raising the anticipation for the second season by quite a bit.
However, 2023 struggled with at least one thing - comedies. Yes, both Beef’s and The Bear ’s second seasons were great and fiendishly funny, but beyond that, the comedic landscape was sadly barren.
Maybe 2024 will bring us some more great shows, because we all need to laugh and find some time to relax, don't you think?
