16 years after the finale, Netflix confirmed The Inbetweeners 3 with the full lead cast — but two fan-favorite names are nowhere in the announcement

Sixteen years after the series finale, Netflix has confirmed that The Inbetweeners 3 is not a rumor, not a "project in early development," not a wistful podcast hypothetical — it's an actual movie, actually filming in the UK right now.
The full lineup, present and accounted for
All four leads are in, per Netflix's official announcement:
- Simon Bird as Will McKenzie, presumably still apologizing for existing;
- Joe Thomas as Simon Cooper, a man who has never once had a normal reaction to anything;
- James Buckley as Jay Cartwright, whose lies I assume have now reached LinkedIn;
- Blake Harrison as Neil Sutherland, the only genuinely happy person in Britain.

Series creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley are writing and directing, which matters, because this franchise without them would be a knockoff energy drink.
"It's been super-fun hanging out with our friends again," the directors said in the announcement — before promising, in fluent Neil, that there will be "no problemos."
The teaser doesn't even show the boys' faces at first. It doesn't have to. It shows the yellow Fiat Cinquecento, still missing a door, and every millennial in the UK reportedly felt a sharp pain in their chest at the same moment.
Now, the two empty chairs
Here's the thing about this announcement: it confirms exactly four actors. Four. And the fandom's two most beloved non-lead humans — Greg Davies' Mr. Gilbert, the head of sixth form powered entirely by contempt, and Emily Atack's Charlotte Hinchcliffe — are nowhere in it.
No confirmation. No denial. No sticker on the Fiat. Supporting casting remains completely unaddressed, which is either standard announcement-day housekeeping or a very loud silence, depending on your anxiety levels.
An Inbetweeners movie without Mr. Gilbert glaring at grown men like they're late for registration is legally a different genre.
When can I watch this
No release date yet. Production just started, Netflix is keeping the window vague, and the first two films broke UK box office records, so expect the marketing machine to be deeply insufferable when the time comes. I'll be there. Obviously. Bus w****rs forever.
