1923’s Finale Runtime Will Follow Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Trend

Paramount+’s current biggest hit is about to wrap its second and final season up.
While things are moving forward for Taylor Sheridan ’s latest hit show Landman which has recently been renewed for a second season, next month will mark the end of an era for 1923, a prequel to Sheridan’s Yellowstone.
Launched roughly three years ago, 1923 has become the second in a series of prequels the writer-director has planned for the original show and is now scheduled to conclude on April 6.
The long-awaited finale, however, has recently been confirmed to give an extensive story development, following the same runtime scheme Sheridan once used for Yellowstone’s final episode.
1923’s Finale Will Be As Massive As Yellowstone’s
The prequel series’ last episode, which will wrap the entire story up, has now received an update that promises its viewers a satisfying conclusion. As TVInsider reported, the second season’s finale, scheduled to air on Paramount+ on April 6, will have a runtime close to two hours long.
The report also offers a sneak peek into what’s in store for 1923’s lead characters, with the official logline saying that “Jacob and his crew eagerly await Spencer’s [Brandon Sklenar] return at the train station. Teonna [Aminah Nieves] has a fateful run-in. Alexandra [Julia Schlaepfer] braves the cold”.
Despite being the only episode to significantly expand its runtime, 1923’s finale isn’t the first show to receive a much bigger last episode; pretty much the same happened to Sheridan’s Yellowstone in season 5 back in December.
This, however, might not only signal the writer-director’s attempt to give one of his most successful projects to-date a satisfying conclusion, but also seems to be a way to compensate for the current season’s shortened run of just 7 episodes.
Things Might Be Over For 1923, But Not For Yellowstone Series of Prequels
While 1923’s season 3 has never been confirmed and the current instalment is believed to be the last one, Yellowstone’s fans shouldn’t expect the Western-y universe to leave the screens anytime soon, at least in the upcoming couple of years.
With two prequel shows concluded now, Sheridan has yet more to tell about the Dutton family with two other spinoffs titled 6666 and 1944.
The former will likely unravel some secrets hidden in the infamous Four Sixes Ranch in Texas where Yellowstone ranch hand Jimmy Hurdstrom was sent to improve his cowboy skills; since Jimmy returns in the flagship show’s season 4 as a completely different man, there might be something intriguing happening behind the ranch’s closed doors.
1944, in its turn, will likely pass on the torch to the family’s next generation, now potentially dealing with the ongoing World War II.
Both shows are yet to receive their premiere dates on Paramount+.
