The show faces some major changes.

Even though many people believe that Grey's Anatomy should have ended a long time ago, the show continues to try its best to stay relevant. Whether it works or not is questionable, as the show will be moving further into the night on the ABC schedule starting next season. However, season 21 is still coming and it's bringing some more changes.

Grey's Anatomy will return at the start of the 2024/25 broadcast season with a slightly different cast. Two of the series' regulars will not be returning to Grey Sloan Memorial for another year, but the hospital will welcome back a familiar face. Here's what we know about them so far.

LEAVING: Jake Borelli (Levi Schmitt)

The actor, who made his debut 7 years ago as part of the new intern group and a recurring character on Grey's Anatomy, is now leaving the show for good. And even though viewers have had their ups and downs with Schmitt, losing him after such a long time spent together feels very disappointing.

While Borelli is expected to make a brief return to the show next season, don't get your hopes up. Once his character's story is wrapped up, Glasses' journey to self-confidence and finding his true self will be over.

LEAVING: Midori Francis (Mika Yasuda)

Although many viewers saw Mika as a Cristina Yang rip-off at the beginning of season 19 when the actress made her first appearance, they have grown to enjoy her character and appreciate her unique journey. It's a shame that it's now been confirmed that she won't be getting much more time at Grey Sloan Memorial.

It was the actress' decision to leave Grey's Anatomy, but she will be back for season 21 to wrap up her character's story and make sure viewers get the closure with Mika they deserve.

RETURNING: Jason George (Ben Warren)

Back in 2018, Ben Warren left Grey's Anatomy to lead another of the show's spinoffs, Station 19. Now that the show is over, Shondaland wasn't ready to let the actor go, so Ben will be returning to the parent show with a strong desire to complete his medical residency and the series' regular label attached to his name.

While many viewers would pay a lot to see the beloved spinoff back on ABC, it is nice to have familiar faces return to Grey's. And we're sure Bailey will be thrilled to have her husband back by her side, not risking his life.

If you are interested in seeing where all the changes will lead the doctors and patients of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in season 21, be sure to keep an eye out for more news and updates so you do not miss the release date announcement.
