Are you really a space sci-fi fan if you haven’t watched this golden classic?

It’s an oldie but goldie — and an absolute must-watch for anyone who adores the topics of space, exploration, humankind’s fate, and future. It’s an absolute classic that has been somewhat hard to track down in the past years as due to all the license bouncing, this iconic franchise didn’t stay on the same platforms for long.

But now, it’s finally back to Prime Video. They had a metaphorical falling off when Amazon’s streamer had to let go of this series, but they’ve recently reconciled — so get ready for one of the best sci-fi adventures of your life!

What’s Our Must-Watch Sci-Fi Classic?

We’re not talking about Star Wars or Star Trek, of course — even though this hit’s name has a little something to do with stars, as well. It’s Battlestar Galactica! While relatively less known compared to the first two “stars” we mentioned, it’s regarded to be the best space sci-fi in history by most fans of this thrilling and captivating genre.

From the original series from the 70s to the more modern TV show, Battlestar Galactica features great characters and a compelling story about humankind though advanced and futuristic, but on the brink of extinction. After a long departure from Prime Video, the entire franchise just made a triumphant return to the platform, making watching this story in its entirety easier than ever before.

What Is Battlestar Galactica, Really?

Advanced and courageous, humans established 12 colonies on different planets and even created a robotic species to assist them in their routine. Only those robots rebelled against their masters… And destroyed the colonies. All that’s left of our kind is one spaceship, Galactica, and its mission is to save humankind by returning to its already mythical home: the 13th colony, also known as the Earth.

The original 1978–1979 TV show boasts an 81% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes, but if you’re not a fan of old-school shows, worry not. The modern Battlestar Galactica that aired through 2004–2009 fared even better, raking up a 95% Critic Score and a complementing 94% from the viewers, as well.

All aboard the ship and let’s save our kind! For those who don’t have the Prime Video subscription, you can also watch Battlestar Galactica on Apple TV.
