What can we expect this month?

Two long, cold months of 2024 are finally over, and today's first day of spring marks a thaw for pop culture as well. Speaking of Netflix, January and February 2024 were not exactly dull in terms of releases.

In January, for example, we got English-language series Fool Me Once, Griselda, and Boy Swallows Universe, the hit anime Delicious in Dungeon, and K-dramas like The Bequeathed and Welcome to Samdral-ri. February was even busier with the addition of the documentary Lover, Stalker, Killer, DreamWorks Animation's Orion and the Dark, the romcom Players, and series like House of Ninjas and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

In other words, there's a lot to choose from, considering that we've only mentioned Netflix Originals, while the streaming service has acquired distribution rights to a huge number of famous TV series and movies, which should be discussed in a whole separate article. But let's be honest: to what extent did each of these releases (well, except for the aforementioned anime and scandals surrounding Avatar) create a pleasant media buzz? How much will they be remembered a month or even a year from now?

The situation promises to be remedied by an equally release-rich March. Except that, judging by the shows that await us, the third month of 2024 will be truly memorable.

3. The Gentlemen

Release Date: March 3, 2024

Guy Ritchie, a true Brit who never fails to deliver true British crime action with true British absurdist humor, has teamed up with Netflix to produce his first television series. Get out your whisky glasses and premium scotch, as the plot of the upcoming Netflix show will follow the story of the 2019 feature film of the same name, starring Matthew McConaughey.

The Gentlemen was executive produced and co-written (with Matthew Read) by Ritchie. According to the premise, Eddie Halstead (Theo James) inherits an impressive estate, only to discover that the property is tied to the activities of McConaughey's Mickey Pearson and his pot empire. In addition to James, the series also stars Kaya Scodelario, Giancarlo Esposito and Vinnie Jones. Let's wait for cameos with famous actors from the original, guys!

2. Supersex

Release Date: March 6, 2024

Italian actor Alessandro Borghi rose to international fame after Netflix added the feature film series Suburra, starring Borghi, to its library. Then his acting fame only grew after starring in the thriller series Devils with an international cast including Lars Mikkelsen, Patrick Dempsey and Laia Costa, as well as last year's award-winning The Eight Mountains. And now, next week, comes the series that is arguably the most steamy of Borghi's career.

Supersex is a dramatization of the life of one of porn's most prolific performers, Rocco Siffredi, who has starred in over a thousand pornographic films since the 1980s. The plot will follow him from his upbringing in a small Italian village to his worldwide fame and career in the American porn industry. The series doesn't just promise to be a pretentious flick, but an intriguing exploration by showrunner Francesca Manieri through a feminist prism.

1. Iron Reign

Release Date: March 15, 2024

Finally, in two weeks, Iron Reign will be released, which will have just as much violence as The Gentlemen, but with a much more serious approach, not exactly typical of British humor — well, the show is made in Spain, after all.

The plot follows the owner (Eduard Fernández) of the main terminal of the port of Barcelona, which is a front for drug trafficking. But his life is turned upside down when one day it turns out that a huge shipment of cocaine has gone missing.
