The actor went viral for a comment about Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic recently, but Cumming’s latest update on the rumour seems to be even more confusing than a potential big fight in Avengers: Doomsday.

A little more than a year is left until Marvel’s next promising blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday will hit theatres across the world, though so far the superhero movies’ fans struggled to see fake rumours apart from what is actually teasing the Avengers’ next mission.

This might be due to the fact that one of the most viral rumours was started by Alan Cumming who is now set to reprise his role of Nightcrawler.

After that, fans were expecting to see some shocking fallout between two crucial characters in the MCU, though Cumming has recently addressed the issue — and it seems like the actor is now even less trusted than Tom Holland when it comes to spoilers.

Alan Cumming Says He Doesn’t Know Who He Was Acting With in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Since Marvel’s plots have always been a top secret and revealing it would mean violating the most important rule of every actor’s contract, Cumming’s words about his Nightcrawler getting into a fight with Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards might have been in fact something forbidden.

However, the actor’s more recent revelations might also suggest that Marvel’s bosses feared he would give something away, so Cumming allegedly spent the entire time on set filming his scenes alone.

“I did the entire film in isolation. Lots of green screen, face replacement. They even gave characters fake names. I don’t know who I was acting with half the time. I broke the internet by mentioning something once, but honestly, I might have got it wrong”, the actor admitted in a new interview with Gold Derby.

Fans Say Marvel Needs to “Chill Out on the Secrecy”

Now that the studio’s filming schedule reportedly depends on whether this or that actor would possibly leak the plot details to the media, Marvel’s fans agree that this is too much — especially since there’s not as much interest for superhero blockbusters as several years ago.

“Holy s—t, MCU movies aren’t good enough anymore to justify all the secrecy and this type of disjointed filmmaking. We just want to see good movies, man. Legit plot leaks and set photos would just build hype at this point”, Redditor ScottOwenJones commented the news in a thread.

“Marvel Studios has got to chill on the secrecy. I understand not wanting major details to leak out to the public, but when you make a movie so secretive that the actors don’t even know who it is they’re sharing scenes with? Come on now”, WontonJr agreed.

In the meantime, Avengers: Doomsday is arriving in theatres on December 18, 2026.
