Tired of dark and gloomy detective shows? We have something for you.

One of 2023's latest hits is the comedy detective show Only Murders in the Building. Featuring the great trio of amateur investigators, this series is a parody of many detective clichés.

But it is not the only show that takes a funny and even silly approach to the detective genre.

1. Bored to Death

Jonathan is a writer who decides to become a private investigator. Spying on other people's lives has become so addictive that he forgets about his own life. Until one day, his ex-girlfriend becomes an important part of a new investigation.

Light humor, neurotic characters, and even Jim Jarmusch on a bike – the show seems to have everything you could possibly want.

2. The Flight Attendant

Cassie has the perfect life. Every morning she wakes up in a new city, in the arms of a new man, and with a slight hangover. But when she wakes up to find a dead body in her bed, she begins to question how she used to live.

Kaley Cuoco, known to viewers as Penny from The Big Bang Theory, plays a drunk who is so unsure of her innocence that she cleans up all the evidence at the crime scene and lies to the FBI.

3. Year of the Rabbit

A charming British series from the writers of The IT Crowd, Spaced, Black Books and the director of Netflix 's Sex Education.

The show tells the story of a strange trio in the British capital, teeming with murderers, maniacs, lunatics and robbers. Led by Detective Rabbit, they find Jack the Ripper and the Elephant Man, dispel a few urban legends and even meet Prince Hector of Bulgaria.

4. Reno 911!

The idea for the mockumentary about Reno cops came about as a parody of the reality TV show Cops, in which the crew documented the hard work of a real police department. But the thing is, members of the Reno PD would rather shoot themselves in the foot or any other part of the body than successfully solve the case.

The show's main feature is improvisation – on the set, the actors were given only the general direction of the scene, and figured out the rest themselves.
