If you're tired of hoping that The OA will ever be revived, it's time to turn your attention to other projects by the show's creator, Brit Marling. Here are some stories that are no worse than the Netflix show.

Brit Marling's name has long been synonymous with indie sci-fi. While fans are begging for The OA to be revived and looking for clues and hints on the showrunners' Instagram accounts, we suggest remembering the movies and shows Brit Marling has written.

1. Sound of My Voice, 2011

A married couple, Peter and Lorna, decide to make an investigative film about a woman who leads a local pseudo-religious community. Their goal is to expose her and become famous at the same time.

The woman who leads the sect pretends to be a time traveler who has returned to the past to save her chosen people. Lorna and Peter infiltrate the community, but their skepticism gradually fades – they begin to believe that the woman is telling the truth.

The duo of Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling, after the success of Sound of My Voice, made another movie about infiltrating The East group and later received an invitation to create their own sci-fi series, The OA.

2. Another Earth, 2011

Mike Cahill's Another Earth, which he co-wrote with Brit Marling and made for next to nothing, is a quiet masterpiece of the genre. It's a surprising mix of sci-fi story and drama about forgiveness.

One day, a planet appears in the sky that looks like two peas in a pod to us: with the same continents, oceans, and people. As the cosmic bodies approach each other, the people of Earth wonder what they would ask their copies, and if there is a universe where it is possible to avoid the mistakes that cannot be corrected in this one.

3. The East, 2013

The political thriller, directed by Zal Batmanglij and co-written by him and Brit Marling, tells the story of a bitter standoff between radical eco-activists and selfish businessmen who are irresponsibly exploiting the planet's precious resources.

The main character, an FBI agent embedded with the environmental activist group The East, begins to embrace their ideals as events unfold.

In The East, Batmanglij and Marling consciously avoid moralizing, seeking to raise a social issue without trying to instill a sense of shame in the viewers.

4. A Murder at the End of the World, 2023

At the invitation of tech billionaire Andy Ronson, amateur sleuth and author of a documentary mystery novel, Darby found herself in a hotel lost in the snow and ice of Iceland.

On the very first night, Darby's friend Bill is killed under strange circumstances. But this is not the last death in a remote location.

Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling's A Murder at the End of the World is not only incredibly fascinating and addictive, but the authors also approach the topics of AI and the poor ecological state of the planet from a completely new angle.
