Maybe there is still a chance The Buccaneers will follow the right path after all.

In just a few episodes, The Buccaneers has gone from being a haven for fans of period dramas to being one of the most hated shows on air right now.

This is due to the writers' decisions to kill off one of the most beloved characters and lead many of the other ones down controversial paths.

So here are some ways to soften fans' attitudes toward the show.

1. Theo and Lizzy Confess Everything to Nan, and Get Back Together

Although the way Theo and Lizzy got together – by betraying Nan – makes many viewers despise this couple, we can't deny that there's a sparkling chemistry and real, sincere feelings between the two.

After learning about the betrayal, Nan could have reacted unconventionally – for instance, by causing a scandal to free Theo from the marriage. Then, Theo and Lizzy could have officially become a couple, and Nan could have found a new path without becoming a victim of circumstances.

2. Honoria and Mabel Find Their Happily Ever After

The relationship between Honoria and Mabel is one of the most touching aspects of the story. Many were disappointed by their separation due to Honoria's decision to leave for France.

Viewers expect the girls to find a way to be together, whether through Mabel moving abroad or Honoria returning to England. The story must end with a clear happy ending – otherwise, it will lose all its meaning.

3. Jinny Marries Hector

Yes, it sounds crazy, but here me out. Jinny's union with Hector could be an unexpected yet logical turn of events. While Nan and the others were busy saving their friend, Hector was also one of Jinny's guardian angels – a fighter for women's rights.

Although Ginny and Hector haven't had an in-depth conversation yet, their relationship developing in a romantic direction seems logical. Hector deserves true love, and Jinny deserves a devoted, respectful husband.

Jinny's divorce from Seadown will most likely not be a problem, considering he killed his own brother and is now in prison.

4. Guy Stays With Paloma

Although the story of Guy and Paloma getting married while drunk seems absurd, it has potential. Rather than annulling the marriage outright, Guy could have realized that he was closer to Paloma than he thought.

His separation from Nan should not be tragic, but rather a conscious choice. They love each other but understand that they are not suited to live together.
