5 Absolutely Twisted Thrillers to Watch After Severance

One of the biggest premieres of the year, Severance season 2, has only one episode left to go, and we know for sure it's going to be a long time before we get another one. So it's better to have something to pass the time until then.
Who doesn't appreciate a good twist in a TV show? While not always necessary, they make television so much more compelling and add a layer (or layers) of complexity to the story. Never knowing how things are going to turn out is exactly what keeps a viewer glued to the screen.
One of the best examples of such shows is of course AppleTV+'s Severance, and Season 2 just proved that the show has so much more up its sleeve, even when viewers think they have the story figured out.
However, there are many more shows with stories no less compelling than Severance, and it's time to give them a chance. Here are 5 of the shows to watch next.
1. Baby Reindeer ( 2024)

Created by Richard Gadd, this Netflix miniseries quickly became a fan favorite and made a huge impact, winning six Emmys with just seven episodes. A mix of dark comedy and psychological thriller, it's loosely based on true events experienced by Gadd himself.
The show stars Gadd as Donny, an aspiring comedian working in a London pub, trying to turn his life around but failing miserably. One day he shows kindness to a woman named Martha, only to become her target. Martha's obsession with Donny is terrifying, but the eerie atmosphere and bizarre events make it impossible to look away, with each twist more disturbing than the last.
2. 24 (2001-2014)
24 is a spy thriller with a unique real-time gimmick: each episode represents one hour of a 24-hour day, and each season takes place within a 24-hour period. Kiefer Sutherland stars as Jack Bauer, a counterterrorism agent tasked with preventing major crises in the U.S.
With eight seasons and numerous twists and turns, the show's relentless pace and high stakes make it one of the most suspenseful thrillers on television. The real-time format increases the tension, where every minute counts and you never know what's going to happen next.
3. Black Mirror ( 2016-)
There was no way that Charlie Brooker's hit series could be left off the list of mind-bending thrillers. Black Mirror is an anthology series that explores the dark side of technology and its impact on society in the most unpredictable way possible.
There is no way for the viewer to guess what the hell is going to happen next. Each episode focuses on a new story, while still making it clear to the audience that each episode is somehow connected with the next one.
4. 12 Monkeys (2015-2018)
Travis Fickett and Terry Matalas' series that you probably have never heard of, but it has a promising 88% Rotten Tomatoes score. Set in a dystopian 2043, 12 Monkeys revolves around a time-traveling mission to prevent a deadly virus from being released by a shadowy group called the Army of the 12 Monkeys.
The show begins with a slightly slow first season, but it picks up with increasingly complex and mind-bending twists. The complicated time travel plot consists of multiple timelines, making it a tangled chain of unpredictable twists and turns.
5. You (2018-)
If you only know Penn Badgley from Gossip Girl, this series will surprise you. It follows Badgley's character, Joe Goldberg, a seemingly mild-mannered bookstore manager. But we soon realize that he is a dangerous man who becomes obsessed with the women he falls in love with.
The series quickly escalates into a thrilling journey into obsession, manipulation, and crime. Joe uses technology and social media to stalk and control his love interests, making each season more twisted than the last.
