Some of the actors were too offended by the new take on the story they once presented.

Reboots of beloved movies or TV shows can be hit or miss, and sometimes the viewers and critics are not the only ones who have something to say.

Even the original cast may have strong opinions about the refreshed stories they once were involved in, and feel super critical about them. Here are 5 actors who were not happy with their work being revived.

1. Robert Englund on Nightmare on Elm Street

Robert Englund, known for his iconic role as Freddy Krueger in the original 1984 slasher film and its sequels, expressed his disappointment with the new version of the film in an interview with Comingsoon.Net.

Englund described the remake as "a little cold" and criticized the "realistic" burn make-up, which he felt weakened the character.

He also pointed out that not allowing enough time to establish a connection with the characters before they are haunted by Freddy was the ultimate flaw of the original movie that the reboot missed.

2. Brendan Fraser on The Mummy

This man is too sweet to hate on anything, but the 2017 Mummy reboot made the speak his mind.

After Tom Cruise's Mummy failed to resonate with audiences, Brendan Fraser, who starred as the main lead in the previous Mummy films, offered his perspective on why the movie didn't succeed.

According to Fraser, the new film lacked the crucial element of the previous franchise: the fun that made the original movies enjoyable.

He believed that The Mummy should be a thrilling adventure, rather than a purely frightening and scary experience, which the 2017 adaptation buried with its head.

3. Barbra Streisand on A Star Is Born

Barbra Streisand, who starred with Kris Kristofferson in the 1976 version of A Star Is Born, was quite disappointed with the movie's reboot. She criticized the lack of originality and the wrong perspective of the main idea of the movie.

She was also very surprised to see Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper as the leads, as she heard that the movie would star Beyoncé and Will Smith, which she thought would give the original movie a new, fresh look.

4. Kim Cattrall on Sex and the City

The much-admired Sex in the City TV series released two full-length movies in 2008 and 2010, and an And Just Like That sequel series to the original show in 2021.

Kim Cattrall, who portrayed the eccentric Samantha Jones in the original show, was not even asked to be part of a revived show.

However, the actress claimed she was already done with her character after the second movie. While Cattrall has not seen the new series, she still found it strange.

5. Kirsten Dunst on Spider-Man

Even though the Spider-Man movies are not technically reboots, but rather new adaptations of the Spider-Man universe, Kirsten Dunst, who played the original Mary Jane along with Tobey Maguire, sees all the new movies about a friendly neighborhood as a source of money rather than entertainment.

She expressed her feelings during the filming of Spider-Man: Homecoming, calling out the crew for "milking that cow for money" in the Marie Claire interview.
