5 Animated Movies You Didn’t Even Know Came From Disney
It’s not all about magic and princesses.
Disney is one of the most popular companies when it comes to producing movies and especially animated movies. Several generations of people have grown up watching Disney flicks, from Snow White to Mufasa: The Lion King.
Of course, not all Disney movies are successful. Some have become masterpieces that families watch year after year, and some have been completely overlooked. For example, everyone knows that Cinderella and Rapunzel come from Disney, but do you know that there’s so much more to explore than just the top 10?
Well, if you feel like diving into the history of the films created by the production giant, then it's time to check out these 5 Disney movies. We promise you, thay are all worth a watch.
1. Oliver & Company (1988)
This may come as a shock to many of you, but there are millions of people for whom Oliver and Company was the first cartoon they ever saw. It is probably the least appreciated Disney movie ever, but it is still excellent and definitely worth your time.
The story revolves around a lost kitten who eventually joins a gang of homeless dogs who survive by stealing from others. The dogs end up teaching Oliver the rules of the street so he could survive out there. One day though Oliver meets a wealthy young girl named Jenny. And that’s when his life changes forever.
2. Chicken Little (2005)
Well, this funny movie is also from Disney, although some viewers argue that the cartoon is not perfect and does not hold up well to modern animation and storytelling. However, we love the story of the ridiculously misunderstood Chicken Little named Cluck.
The little guy is known for stretching the truth and overreacting. One day he claims that the sky is falling, but at first no one believes him. But then Chicken Little introduces his proof, which happens to be a young alien, accidentally left behind by his family. Now it’s Cluck’s mission to help him get home and save his own town from invasion.
3. Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)
This Disney movie is not a commercial success, and it didn’t even get perfect reviews from critics and viewers. But do we really need all that to enjoy a cartoon with such a magical story in it? Everything about Atlantis: Lost Empire is different, and that;s a good thing. The cast, the premise, even the colors of the movie are unique.
“This is a terrific sci-fi animated adventure movie. With memorable characters, great voice work, beautiful animation, terrific music, great action, etc. I don't know why the critics were so hard on it and why audiences didn't go to see it. Then again, in terms of audiences, sci-fi animated movies are tough sell,” Redditor JannTosh12 said.
4. Meet the Robinsons (2007)
Although it's not very popular with Disney audiences, Meet the Robinsons is actually a very wholesome movie with a very powerful message. It teaches the lesson of moving forward in life despite the challenges that anyone can face.
The movie centers on a young child inventor named Lewis. He is an orphan who dreams of being adopted and uses his inventions to make himself more likeable. But one day his creation sends him to another universe. Now he and his new friend must find a way to send Lewis back to his time.
5. Bolt (2008)
Who doesn't like a movie with a puppy as the main character? Well, it definitely sounds like a perfect movie for us. The movie is about a little girl, Penny, who adopts a white shepherd puppy and names him Bolt. She pursues an acting career and turns Bolt into a star as well. But one day he gets lost on the road and has to find his way back.
