Unusual dungeon adventures, a zombie apocalypse, and the most daring heist in history.

The premiere of the anime Sakamoto Days on Netflix was a huge success. In its first week, the series became the second most popular non-English project in the streaming's global top.

The second part of Season 1 will be released in July 2025. In the meantime, while you wait for summer, check out these other great anime series on Netflix.

1. Onimusha, 2023

Miyamoto Musashi is a legendary swordsman of the Edo period. Towards the end of his adventures, he was given a special mission: to go to a mountain village where the warrior Iemon had gone against the will of the ruler and won over the locals.

After learning that Iemon had enlisted the help of dark forces, Miyamoto asked the temple for a special artifact – the Oni Gauntlet – to help fight evil spirits. Accompanied by a monk and five warriors, he embarks on a journey from which not all will return.

Onimusha is a loose adaptation of the Onimusha video game series, in which several samurai must confront demons capable of bringing back the dead from the afterlife and turning people into monsters.

2. Super Crooks, 2021

The plot centers on a petty but charismatic thief, Johnny Bolt. As a schoolboy, he discovered his superpower – the ability to control electricity. Instead of doing good deeds, Johnny used his power to hack into ATMs. After serving several prison sentences, he was released and set out to make history as the most daring robber.

His ambitions caught the attention of a once-famous supervillain nicknamed The Heat. The man assembles a team of people for the most difficult heist in history – targeting the tower of popular superheroes.

The series is reminiscent of Ocean's Eleven and the series about amoral superheroes, The Boys. As in the Amazon show, superheroes sacrifice the lives of civilians and thoughtlessly destroy cities.

3. Dorohedoro, 2020-...

The plot revolves around a big lizard-headed guy named Caiman who can't remember his real name, but is sure that someone killed him. And not just anyone, but a sorcerer.

The only way to find out who it was is to hunt sorcerers and stick their heads in his mouth, where a mysterious man with crosses over his eyes lives – he knows who turned the man into an alligator.

Accompanied by his friend Nikaido, Caiman wanders the outskirts of the Hole – a polluted world where sorcerers often come to practice on mere mortals. During his search, Caiman kills all the sorcerers he encounters. This does not please the most powerful of them, named En.

4. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, 2023

Not long ago, Akira was sure he had hit the jackpot when he landed the job of his dreams. But the reality was not so exciting: in three years, the young man burned out due to cruel management and regular overtime.

On top of that, the girl he likes started dating his boss. By a lucky coincidence, a zombie apocalypse started in the world. Akira no longer has to go to work, which means he can take a deep breath and start making his dreams come true. If not now, when?

5. Delicious in Dungeon, 2024-...

A motley crew of hungry adventurers descend into the caves to rescue the sister of one of the main characters from the belly of a dragon. It sounds like a pretty standard premise for a fantasy anime, but in Delicious in Dungeon everything is much more interesting than it seems at first glance.

The dungeon here is not just a cave filled with undead and treasures, but a complex multi-level ecosystem with its own rules and creatures; monsters are not so much obstacles on the way to the dark depths, but rather exquisite dishes of haute cuisine.
