There’s no way Dwight wasn’t your favorite character in The Office, even though he could be a handful in the earlier episodes. Here are just 5 moments from the show when Mr. Schrute definitely stole the spotlight.

Dwight Schrute stands as one of most memorable characters not only in The Office, but in the entire history of sitcoms. He is everything a comedy character needs to be: he is cringeworthy and rude, yet sometimes it’s amazing how vulnerable, deep and emotional he can be.

Over the nine-season run, Dwight showed tremendous character development, converting from seemingly one-dimensional salesman into a man of his word, who has many friends and caring family. Here are the five best Dwight scenes that once again prove to us why he is the most interesting character in the series.

5. Ryan Started the Fire (Season 2, Episode 4 “The Fire”)

This is one of the show's best and funniest early moments. When Ryan became part of the Dunder Mifflin employees’ daily lives, Dwight felt jealous of him because Michael seemed obsessed with him.

When the fire alarm went on in the office and everybody was forced to get out, Michael thought that he had forgotten his phone in the building, and Dwight, in order to seem like a hero, went back to bring it. However, while on his mission he finds out that the reason for the fire was that Ryan was stupid enough to burn his cheese pita. And thus the song was created…

4. The Finale (Season 9, Episodes 24-25 “Finale”)

"Finale" gives Dwight the happy ending that audiences would have never anticipated nine years prior, as he finally marries the perfect woman and becomes the owner of his own huge farm.

The series finale provided the perfect capstone to Dwight's journey, showing him transformed from the awkward assistant to a successful regional manager who found love and acceptance.

3. “Customer Survey” (Season 5, Episode 7)

“Customer Survey” showcased Dwight’s meticulous attention to detail and his bizarre creative process, complete with charts, graphs, and his signature intensity.

The way he approached the mundane task of analyzing customer feedback with the seriousness of a military operation demonstrated his unique worldview and unwavering commitment to excellence, no matter how small the task. And the peak of the episode was the mock phone call he and Jim had to do with Michael.

2. Pobody's Nerfect (Season 8, Episode 6 “Doomsday”)

In “Doomsday,” Dwight installs his elaborate doomsday device to improve office efficiency, but the plan backfires spectacularly. When the office staff visits Schrute Farms to convince Dwight to remove the system, tensions run high as everyone fears for their jobs.

It's during this stressful moment that Pam delivers her now-iconic line “Pobody's nerfect” which seemingly makes Dwight reconsider his decision and turn off the device. The scene perfectly encapsulated how Pam's kindness and understanding could reach even the most stubborn characters.

1. “A.A.R.M” (Season 9, Episodes 22-23)

“A.A.R.M.” is definitely one of the funniest Dwight-centered episodes in the entire series, but also the one that develops him as a character. "A.A.R.M" is named after Assistant to the Assistant to the Regional Manager, a fictional position in Dunder Mifflin that Jim tricks Dwight into giving to himself even though he's already the Regional Manager.

The episode ends with Dwight and Angela engaged to each other, a moment that the fandom loves since this iconic couple had been almost a decade in the making.
