No time to think twice!

With each new month comes a strong desire to let go of some things in order to make room for what is new. And it seems that even the biggest streaming platforms feel the same way.

That's why they update their libraries every month. There are a lot of different movies leaving Netflix in May, but these 5 are a must watch (or rewatch) if you are a fan of quality cinema.

1. Uncut Gems (2019) – May 9

Many of you may not think much of Adam Sandler, at least that's what a lot of people say out loud, even though there's a good chance they fall asleep watching Sandler's best rom-coms. But every once in a while he stars in a movie that ends up proving how brilliant of an actor he really is.

Uncut Gems has a 91% on Tomatometer and features the actor in a serious role, portraying a man named Howard Ratner. Once a successful jeweler, he is now a gambling addict who makes a risky, high-stakes bet that could change his luck and his life. Fans of the film say that nothing in the world has made them as anxious as this movie. You better find out why.

2. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) – May 9

This 95%-rated animated film has everything an adventure drama fan could want in a movie and more. And the iconic voices of Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek add a lot of flavor to it as well.

The 2022 cartoon is a sequel to the 2011 spinoff film Puss in Boots, which was created as a soft reboot of the Shrek franchise. This installment follows Puss as he lives his last life and realizes that he lost all the previous eight lives for nothing. So now he goes on a magical journey to restore them all with the help of the Last Wish.

3. Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) – May 12

Not all coming of age movies are lighthearted, sometimes, just as it happens in reality, they are much darker. At the center of this movie is a young girl named Kya Clark, who was abandoned by her parents and was forced to take care of herself. She grew up by the marshlands and was selling mussels to survive. The people in her town considered her strange and even wild.

One day she started dating a local guy named Chase, but soon she found out he was already engaged, so they broke up. Later, he was found dead, and she immediately became the prime suspect in his murder. How will things turn out for her after that?

4. The Boxtrolls (2014) – May 22

A rather inspiring and heartfelt story involving monsters and many other quirky characters. The Boxtrolls are a community of mischievous creatures/trash collectors who raised a human orphan with all the love they had. And now, as the boy grows older, he realizes that there's a great danger approaching them in the form of an evil exterminator.

The boy decides to leave the underground world and come to the surface to try to save his loved ones. There he meets Winnie and together they come up with an ingenious plan.
