Martin Scorsese’s epic historical drama that became a starting point for the director and Leonardo DiCaprio ’s long-lasting collaboration, Gangs of New York offers a glimpse into harsh realities of American life during the Civil War with two gangs set against each other.

The movie boasts of a star-studded cast that, apart from DiCaprio, comprises Daniel Day-Lewis, Cameron Diaz, Jim Broadbent and Brendan Gleeson among others.

Released back in 2002, Gangs of New York was a massive hit and one of the frontrunners at the 2003 awards season, securing a whopping 10 Oscar nominations, but ultimately not winning any.
