5 Best Sci-Fi Shows to Watch on Apple TV+ While You Wait for Severance New Episode

With major hits like Silo and Severance, Apple TV+ is now the best option for sci-fi lovers.
Roughly 3 years after its first season’s release, Severance is back on Apple TV+ with a new and, well, pretty long-awaited instalment which is, for better or for worse, staying with us for quite some time.
That said, the show’s new season isn’t a treasure for those who enjoy binge-watching all episodes in one night, since Severance, just like most Apple TV+’s series, follows an annoying schedule of dropping only one episode per week.
However, fans of the show and the sci-fi genre as a whole aren’t just left with nothing more than one episode as Apple TV+ has a bunch of other options to fill the void in.
Amazing Stories
A reboot of Steven Spielberg ’s 1985 show of the same name, Amazing Stories stars some big names like Teen Wolf ’s Dylan O’Brien and You’s Victoria Pedretti, reimagining the original plot on a more modern level.
Just like its predecessor, the series is also an anthology, comprising a bunch of stories that unfold in every new episode and see the real world blending with that of fiction, fantasy and sci-fi.
Amazing Stories’ new version wasn’t met with much enthusiasm and currently holds average scores of 41% and 51% from critics and viewers on Rotten Tomatoes, though it still doesn’t make the series any less compelling sci-fi piece.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters
The show, starring father and son Wyatt and Kurt Russell among others, came out in 2023 as a follow-up to the 2014 monster movie Godzilla and since then remained a solid part of the worldwide famous franchise.
With an expanded storyline going from the 1950s to the 2010s, the series is a hidden gem, back in the day praised by many for its smooth timeline transitions that also make some character changes quite believable, since Wyatt and Kurt Russell are in here to portray different versions of the same character.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is also a critical darling, securing a score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.
See
This show might be a perfect watch not only for Severance’s fans, but also for those who still miss the times when Game of Thrones was having its prime (aka first several seasons).
See stars ex-Khal Drogo Jason Momoa as Baba Voss, the leader of the Alkenny Tribe that has been quite used to managing life without a possibility to see it ever since the entire humanity went blind centuries ago.
Having long prioritised his family and children’s safety from outer dangers, Baba Voss embarks on a risky mission when he becomes an adoptive father for twins who were born with a normal eyesight.
Dark Matter
Based on a 2016 novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, who is also the entire series’ creator, Dark Matter expands the theme of defining life choices which sometimes can be reversed.
The show stars Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen, a physics professor who is pretty much content with his life as a successful scientist and a happily married man. Though, it still feels different when Jason’s thoughts go way beyond his ordinary life, while he contemplates what would’ve happened had he chosen another path.
Suddenly, this isn’t just wishful thinking, and original Jason gets to meet Jason #02 when the former unwillingly travels between alternate realities.
Foundation
Severance fans who didn’t have enough of Lumon Industries’ dark secrets might find this option compelling and satisfying enough. Foundation is based on Isaac Asimov’s novels of the same name and follows life on another galaxy’s another planet governed by a long-lasting dynasty.
The new world is shaken once again when a psycho-historian’s prophecy about the upcoming chaos starts proving itself right; with the government struggling ahead of facing the danger, a group of exiles embarks on a mission to save humanity until it’s too late and the empire falls apart.
