In a show where almost every character is some kind of hero, it's almost impossible to decide who's the best.

Chicago Fire is a long-running series about Firehouse 51, where the crew is ready to save anyone in need. The show is full of unique characters who carry the entire plot on their shoulders.

Many of the main characters are beloved by fans for specific reasons. But let's try to create a top 5 characters from worst to best, according to the fans and of course the character's performance on the show.

5. Kelly Severide

Frankly, this one could have been higher on the list, but his recent departure from the show caused some concerns among fans, as they weren't ready for the main character to leave the show on such short notice.

Being just married, having finally found peace at life work balance, he decides to depart from the show. Well, let's not judge him too harshly, he had his reasons.

Still, Kelly Severide, portrayed by Taylor Kinney, is immensely adorable and charismatic in the role. But he still has some flaws.

For example, in season 1, he manipulated one of his closest friends, Leslie Shay, to use her paramedic position to sneak him drugs that he is not allowed to take due to his addiction.

4. Evan Hawkins

This character became a regular in the show only in the last two seasons, but still made his place in the top 5. He is the Paramedic Field Chief of the Chicago Fire Department, and everyone knows him as an honest and firm leader.

He is attracted to Violet Mikami and they start dating, which causes problems at work as his opinion as her supervisor is no longer impartial.

And frankly his passion towards his work and people he works with may be one of the reasons he was so beloved by the fans.

So when he died unexpectedly in season 11, it was really a heartbreaking scene to watch. In fact, it was one of the saddest scenes of the series.

3. Sylvie Brett

Brett joins Firehouse 51 as paramedic in season 3 following the unfortunate death of Leslie Shay in the previous season. She quickly established her character as a strong part of the team and a true friend.

Brett, along with Otis and Cruz, became the show's best friend trio that was fun to follow.

Brett has also been a great mentor to several new EMTs who have come in and out of Firehouse 51 since Gabriela Dawson left the team, especially Gianna Mackey, who she bonded with after the two of them destroyed a drone in season 9.

All of this has made her one of the most likable characters in the series.

2. Wallace Boden

It seems like Boden was born as a leader. He has earned the respect of the whole crew under his command at Firehouse 51 thanks to his kindness and ability to be very understanding.

Although he was never not afraid to make tough decisions or be the villain if necessary. Although he is firm in his beliefs, Boden's decisions have sometimes gotten him into trouble.

For example, he was criticized when he decided to leave a civilian behind in a warehouse fire, knowing that he could not be saved and that his crew would suffer greatly.

Still, striking that balance may be difficult for most of the show's characters or even people in real life. But Boden has done it perfectly.

1. Brian Otis Zvonecek

Well, the number one person on this list was probably the one most people expected. The one whose tragic death still haunts fans even though several years have passed.

Everyone remembers Otis as the one with a smile on his face and always joking around. He always knew how to make his laugh and had a good word for everyone in the crew.

His luck unfortunately runs out in season 8, episode 11, when he dies in a selfless act that saves his whole team. And his last words are towards his friend Joe, when he tells him in Russian "Brother, I will always be with you."
