There is a special place in our hearts that is only occupied by sitcoms. This genre is the best when it comes to bringing joy and comfort into our lives. You can always count on your favorite show, whether it's Friends or The Office or any other hilarious series.
The characters in such shows are mostly positive, with the "villains" included just for comic relief. They are all charming in their own way. But the "dummies" have our endless love for being naive, simple and just plain sincere. So here are our five favorite ones.
1. Kramer — Seinfeld
Seinfeld is a popular show "about nothing," but at the same time we can say with certainty that it was about everything at once. And while the quartet of main characters were all something, Kramer stood out.
His ability to give the worst advice with the most confident voice and attitude is the best thing you will ever see on screen. Part of his charm was also the way he thought life worked. Oh, Kramer, how we envy you!
This Modern Family character is not the most obvious choice for the case, but we are going to include him anyway. Phil is a typical good guy that every show has, who is emotionally unstable, naive, big-hearted, and has a weird sense of humor. He can be as silly as he wants to and the fans are still going to like him.
3. Kevin — The Office
Probably the most iconic comedy character to ever appear on TV. Kevin Malone is the definition of a bad joke. His delivery is sleazy, inappropriate most of the time, and generally not funny. He also has the best visual representation of comedy: the chili incident, the "legs in the ice" incident, and the unforgettable toupee are probably his most memorable scenes on The Office.
4. Joey — Friends
Joey is the heart and soul of Friends, no doubt about it. He's the kind of guy you really want to be friends with: sincere, open-hearted, willing to do anything to make those closest to him happy. But at the same time, he is a real dummy. He doesn't know simple things that a child knows, and he's just too naive for this world. Still, he fully accepts his personality and that's something we should learn from him.
Jaime started out as a bad kind of dummy. He was a bully on top of being just plain stupid, and that's definitely not a combination you want in a person. However, the show does a great job of redeeming him a bit after a while, so his character opens up as a deep person, but is still a bit too shallow.
