These five have taken their dark aspect to a whole new level, exuding a seriously sinister energy that will send shivers down your spine.

A lot of great TV shows have morally ambiguous characters and a rather dark atmosphere, like Breaking Bad or The Sopranos.

However, some creators take the meaning of dark to the next level and deliver TV shows that practically radiate evil energy, which, to be fair, doesn't automatically make them bad, and sometimes quite the opposite.

So here are 5 of the most evil TV shows that might just give you the creeps with their sinister vibes.

Hannibal ( 2013-2015)

Mads Mikkelsen was absolutely terrific as the titular Dr. Hannibal Lecter, because even though almost all viewers knew his dark secret from the start, he still managed to charm them and steal every second he was in it.

But what makes the show even more evil is that Hannibal is often not the main villain, as he helps criminal profiler Will Graham, played by Hugh Dancy, catch even more depraved serial killers.

American Horror Story ( 2011-present)

Some seasons of Ryan Murphy's anthology TV series barely feature a single positive character, focusing instead on absolutely horrible people.

And even when a good person is introduced, there is a significant chance that they will either be killed off halfway through the season or reduced to the level of a villain by the end of the season.

Too Old to Die Young (2019)

Nicolas Winding Refn definitely went for the evil vibe with this 2019 miniseries, starring Miles Teller and Augusto Aguilera.

Almost every character is despicable in some way, which makes it hard for some viewers to feel sorry for or even care about them.

Dracula (2020)

Considering that almost everyone knows the famous source material of the miniseries, you expect the titular Count to meet his demise at the end.

However, thanks to the outstanding evil charisma of lead actor Claes Bang, who portrays the legendary vampire, you feel less and less sure of that with every minute he's on screen.

Dexter (2006-2013)

Considering that the show's main character is literally a serial killer who leads a double life, posing to everyone as a friendly forensic technician, it is no wonder that Dexter has a strong evil feel to it.

Of course, he has a moral code that tells him to only kill other murderers who have escaped punishment, but that only makes Dexter a lesser evil.
