5 Family-Friendly Adventure Movies to Watch After Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (No MCU & DC)
Adventures on the edge of the world, in dangerous jungles, and in the pages of books.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 became an unexpected hit in theaters – the blockbuster is doing great at the box office and has even managed to win over the press and audiences.
If you are looking for something else large-scale and fabulous to watch with your kids, these five movies are just perfect.
1. The Secret Kingdom, 2023
Peter and his younger sister Verity are moving to a new town with their parents. Their house, an old mansion, is hardly comfortable to live in, as it seems to be inhabited by ghosts and other creatures.
One day, Peter buys a talisman in an antique shop that summons a pangolin – a messenger from the underworld. It is inhabited by half-animal, half-lizard creatures who call the boy their king.
The boy rejects the title, but still sets out with Verity in search of the lost fragments of the magical clock that will restore harmony and happiness to the pangolin world.
2. Jungle Cruise, 2021
Botanist Dr. Lily Houghton travels to the headwaters of the Amazon in search of the mythical Tree of Life, which can cure any ailment. Her brother and a cunning ship captain help her on the expedition.
Jungle Cruise is based on a Disneyland attraction. The movie is really reminiscent of a high-speed entertainment ride through the wild jungle. This is a light and fun film for the whole family, with obvious references to classic films such as Indiana Jones and The Mummy.
3. The Golden Compass, 2007
On an alternate Earth, people's souls are separated from their bodies and coexist with them in physical form, like different species of animals called daemons. Lyra Belacqua, a student at Jordan College, Oxford, is drawn into a confrontation between her uncle, Lord Asriel, and the mysterious Marisa Coulter.
The girl's friends disappear due to adult intrigues. One day, Lyra gets her hands on a powerful artifact, the Golden Compass, and sets out to rescue kidnapped children.
4. Spread Your Wings, 2019
13-year-old Thomas' parents are divorced, so he spends the summer with his father, an ornithologist. The man dreams of making a scientific discovery – teaching rare white-fronted geese to migrate south during the winter.
At first the boy looks at his father's experiments with irony, spending most of his time playing computer games, but then he becomes involved in the process and is inspired by the idea of helping.
Along the way, the boy and the birds will encounter many adventures and incredibly beautiful landscapes that will make your heart skip a beat.
5. Inkheart, 2008
Mortimer Folchart has the ability to bring the fairy tale characters into the real world. This amazing ability suddenly brings problems: a fairy tale villain drags the man into the book. The daughter and her friends, both real and fictional, set out to find him.
The movie is based on the novel by the popular modern German author Cornelia Funke. It is a fascinating story for both children and adults, which, among other things, questions the connection between creativity and reality.
