Pierce Brosnan Names Iconic Role That He’d Return to “in a Heartbeat”

MobLand’s actor jokingly sees no problem in reprising his 1995 role, if Denis Villeneuve agrees for this too.
Pierce Brosnan might be booked and busy from crime dramas like Guy Ritchie’s MobLand and Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club this year, but he used to be a much more prominent figure fighting the evil on international level.
Having joined the list of Brits that became legends thanks to the role of James Bond, Brosnan had been taking on the role in four movies from 1995 to 2002, eventually ceding it to Daniel Craig back in 2006.
However, more than twenty years that passed seemingly make no difference for the actor now that Bandiana is looking for a new and much younger actor for the spy role.
Since the franchise’s next movie is now officially helmed by Dune’s Denis Villeneuve, Brosnan feels like he can offer his candidacy to the director on one condition.
Pierce Brosnan Says He “Would Look at” Reprising James Bond Role If Denis Villeneuve “Had Something Up His Sleeve”
With all the projects just released or coming to the screens soon, Brosnan might be yet far from going into retirement, and he’s ready to quit his secret service retirement instead.
In an interview with the Radio Times, the actor joked about getting back into the cult spy’s suit again in his 70s — which he, however, would do without much thinking.
“There are many great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a spectacle of delight. I don’t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if Villeneuve had something up his sleeve I would look at it in a heartbeat”, Brosnan said, adding that his appearance as James Bond again “could be lots of laughs”.
Pierce Brosnan Teases “Lovely Lyricism” in Netflix’s ‘The Thursday Murder Club’
The upcoming crime comedy movie directed by Home Alone’s Chris Columbus is based on Richard Osman’s 2020 novel of the same name and will become yet another story about elderly amateur detectives trying to solve a mystery murder.
As Brosnan also revealed, The Thursday Murder Club might be a pretty surprising movie for those who have always thought of older people as of someone that would never dare risking their own life.
“Within this story, there’s a lovely lyricism. These four people want to keep their minds active and they also deal with the death that will befall all of us… And it’s all wrapped up in a whodunnit”, the actor added.
The Thursday Murder Club is coming to Netflix on August 28.
