Season 3 wrapped its run in August with "The Return," leaving a depowered-then-repowered Clark tangled in a mystery deal and Lex acting like a man who has peeked at the last page of the book and did not care for it. What did he see? What is he so rattled about?
Talking to Screen Rant after the finale, co-showrunner Brendan Clogher confirmed the receipts exist: an actual scene showing Lex's vision was storyboarded for the end of season 2 — and then cut. Per Clogher, the team doesn't trash material like that; they shelve it, and this particular scene is sitting there "waiting for a version of itself" to make it into the show. They know exactly what Lex saw. They have known since season 2. They are simply choosing violence.
