These movies got off to an incredible start, only to completely blow it halfway through.

Sometimes you might not even be aware that you are watching a bad movie, because some of them have a pretty solid start.

However, when you realize that the story has turned into utter garbage halfway through, it only makes the disappointment even more bitter.

So here are five movies that were completely ruined by their second halves.

Hancock (2008)

Before Deadpool and The Boys made the concept of the flawed superhero mainstream, this movie starring Will Smith as the titular drinking and swearing superhuman felt incredibly fresh and new.

Things went downhill in the second half, however, and it felt like two completely different scripts were spliced together.

Last Night in Soho (2021)

Directed by Edgar Wright, this horror film starring Thomasin McKenzie, Anya Taylor-Joy and Matt Smith was highly anticipated by fans of the filmmaker's work.

Unfortunately, it turned into a disjointed mess with an underwhelming finale midway through, and even creative cinematography and strong performances couldn't save it.

Sunshine (2007)

Much like Edgar Wright, Danny Boyle has created a cult following around himself, and this sci-fi movie lived up to the high expectations for the most part.

However, the final act turned it into a bad monster horror movie, completely ruining the overall impression of what could have been a sci-fi classic.

High Tension (2003)

This French movie started out as a pretty solid slasher, only to be completely ruined by the infamous "she was the killer all along" twist.

What could have been a great way to enhance the story and encourage viewers to re-watch only created more questions and severely damaged the movie's narrative.

Iron Man 3 (2013)

This is a tricky one because, depending on your point of view, it is either a huge disappointment or an ingenious subversion of expectations.

Regardless, the Mandarin twist midway through the story infuriated many fans upon the film's release, making Iron Man 3 arguably the weakest film in Tony Stark's solo trilogy.
