So let’s just pretend they never happened…

Grey's Anatomy has been on the air for over 20 years. And during that time, the writers of the show have tried to mix up the storylines in every way possible to keep the fandom happy.

However, in their attempts to make things good for the series, they sometimes went too far. For example, when it came to creating these completely unnecessary romantic pairings.

Not only was it painful to watch characters imitate love when there was not a hint of chemistry between them, but it just changed the image of the show for the worse.

So here are five couples that should never have been put together in the first place.

1. Teddy and Owen

These two had been on the show together for almost a decade, but they still couldn't create any kind of warmth for each other. Even their slow build-up didn't help them become a believable couple worth rooting for. The fans who dreamed of seeing them together were disappointed when it finally happened.

2. Jackson and Maggie

Let the people speak for this one, huh?

"Jaggie was a terrible idea. I get that they didn’t grow up together, but the moment she recognized Richard as her father and he and Catherine got married Jackson and Maggie became a bad pair to me," Redditor IeishaS said.

Well, incestuous and cringe-worthy vibes aside, this couple also had little to no chemistry, and seemed to genuinely hate things about each other.

3. Cristina and Owen

Well, to say that Owen was the unluckiest person in the show in terms of love is to say nothing. His relationship with Cristina was the best example of the worst thing a couple can do to each other: when they realize they are wrong for each other for so many reasons, but still push the relationship to its limits.

4. Izzie and George

Fans think that turning them from best friends into this miserable couple was one of the worst plot twists the show ever had. Their platonic chemistry was amazing, but as soon as they were asked to be something more, it all died in an instant. No magic, no chemistry, just two people making each other suffer in an unnecessary relationship.

5. Levi and Nico

The main problem with this couple was that Nico had no personality. This made their relationship seem incredibly one-sided. Fans are sure that this ship would be much more popular if the writers would at least try to develop Nico's character. Because it's hard to care about a plot device.
