Sound of Metal’s actor almost had a chance to get a standout Star Wars movie instead of Disney’s Andor, but that would be a thing too complicated even for the franchise’s diehard fans.

Decades after its launch, the Star Wars franchise is all well and alive, now heading towards several Emmy wins with its latest TV release Andor at the upcoming ceremony that takes place on September 14.

Starring Diego Luna as the titular character, the show serves as a prequel to 2016’s Rogue One that starred Riz Ahmed in one of the essential roles.

Since the fate of Ahmed’s Bodhi Rook is all clear and pretty tragic in the original film, many thought the prequel was the most certain way to bring the character back.

However, Ahmed is nowhere to be found in Andor’s both existing seasons, and the actor is actually glad that Rook hasn’t messed the whole Star Wars timeline up.

Riz Ahmed Likes ‘Andor’ Just the Way It Is

Even though Disney’s recent hit show would be a perfect way to bring Bodhi Rook back after he died trying to secure Death Star plans in Rogue One, both Ahmed and Andor’s showrunner Tony Gilroy saw this more as a way to complicate things even more.

“He’s got such an intricate way of plotting things, and he felt that bringing my character in would mess with timelines and the way he’d plotted lots of stuff through”, Ahmed revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter recently, referring to Gilroy.

Still, the actor had a different thought on how else Bodhi Rook can return to the Star Wars franchise, suggesting that, maybe, Gilroy would consider making a separate movie about the character one day.

“I actually brought this up with Tony, jokingly. I was like, ‘Does that mean I’m getting a Bodhi Rook standalone movie [instead]?’” Ahmed added, saying that he “wouldn’t mess” with Andor and change its storyline because it’s already perfect.

Tony Gilroy Needs Only One Emmy Win For ‘Andor’

Despite boasting of 14 nods that will likely turn into at least a couple of wins, Andor will live up to all of its creator’s expectations if it secures the statuette the probably most unexpected category — and it’s not Outstanding Drama Series.

As Tony Gilroy revealed in his recent interview with Gold Derby, his past as a musician requires him to win the Original Music and Lyrics category for Andor, a part of the score for which he co-wrote with Nicholas Britell.

“Yes! I want this. I want this Emmy really badly. You could say that I'm smiling, but yeah, I want this one”, Gilroy said.
