Still Mad About ‘Andor’ Emmy Snub? George Martin Feels You

“A Song of Ice and Fire” author has just given the highest praise to what fans think Emmy voters didn’t even pay attention to.
Even though George Martin really meant it when he said he would spend all of his time finishing “The Winds of Winter”, it seems like he does have an extra hour a day to enjoy some of modern TV’s biggest hits.
In fact, Game of Thrones’ author has never shied away from sharing his own favourites among movies and shows, and this time is no exception.
While taking it to his famous personal blog, Martin revealed he had been enjoying one of the biggest sci-fi releases recently, stating that the show was nothing but the best of its kind.
However, the writer also praised the series’ leading actor who, as many of the show’s fans complained just a couple of weeks earlier, was unfairly snubbed at the upcoming Emmys.
George Martin Says Diego Luna “Was First Rate” in ‘Andor’
Having recently released its extremely successful second season, Andor also turned into a major discovery for Game of Thrones’ writer who gushed over the series in his blog, offering a special praise for Andor’s leading man Diego Luna.
“ANDOR was this year’s highlight, though. Far and away the best of the Star Wars spinoffs. Looked gorgeous, Diego Luna was first rate, and there was a realism and tension to the story that was sadly lacking in most of the other spinoffs. It’s nice to see someone doing science fiction right”, Martin wrote on his official website.
He also revealed he’d caught up with Apple TV+’s other recent sci-fi release Murderbot starring Alexander Skarsgård, adding that the TV show turned out to be a faithful adaptation to Martha Wells’ “The Murderbot Diaries” book series.
“The Murderbot stories are always a lot of fun, and the TV show did them justice. I look forward to another series”, the writer said in the same post.
‘Andor’ Fans Are Still Not Over Diego Luna Losing Emmy Nod
It’s fair to say there’s been pretty tough competition for the Emmys this year, so no wonder some TV shows were left with no nominations in the most important categories.
Despite getting a pretty decent amount of 10 nods, Andor still lacked quite many mentions in the acting nominations, with fans raging over Diego Luna’s absence in the Best Actor category.
“These Emmy voters really dropped the ball - likely not really paying attention due to it being a Star Wars show. Denise Gough, Diego Luna, and Stellan Skarsgård (and others, frankly) all gave INCREDIBLE performances in Season 2 - not just nomination-worthy but Emmy-winning worthy”, Redditor harpua_2626 complained in a thread.
“It’s one of the most well acted shows I’ve ever watched, yet they got zero nominations in that regard. Criminal”, Balls_of_Adamanthium agreed.
“Last of Us getting so many acting noms over the Andor cast is truly heinous. Pedro Pascal was the only performance even worth mentioning for awards season. HBO is just riding on the fumes of its previous credibility at this point”, Shell_fly chimed in.
