5 Guy Ritchie Movies to Watch on Netflix Before The Gentlemen Season 2 Arrival

The director’s hit action comedy show is set to return to Netflix after an astounding success of the first season back in 2024.
One of the modern masters of the action genre, Guy Ritchie has been keeping his successful streak for years, offering fans a portion of action-packed movies every so often.
The director has recently expanded his own cinematic universe after releasing The Gentlemen, a Netflix hit show that came as a spinoff for Ritchie’s 2019 movie of the same name.
The success of the series’ first season was so loud no one could imagine its future without at least one more instalment, though things have remained quiet about this until The Gentlemen’s lead Theo James revealed the second season was in the works now.
While it will likely take a while for the show’s new episodes to eventually arrive on Netflix, the streamer has its own collection of Guy Ritchie’s action flicks you can fill the void with while waiting.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Despite bombing in the box office and failing to impress the critics, the movie with Charlie Hunnam in the leading role is still the audiences’ darling that deserves another rewatch every so often.
Inspired by famous Arthurian legends, King Arthur: Legend of the Swords isn’t a typical story for Guy Ritchie’s filmography, yet it adapts perfectly to the director’s unique vision of epic action-packed narratives, following young Arthur’s fight for his birthright for the throne when his power-hungry uncle Vortigern takes all the control over the kingdom.
The latter is also portrayed by Jude Law, so this might be another reason for Netflix’s viewers to add the film to their watchlist.
Sherlock Holmes (2009)
With all the existing cinematic attempts to reimagine Arthur Conan Doyle’s character on the big screen, it did seem at first that Guy Ritchie’s adaptation wouldn’t be a major hit anyway, though it turned out completely wrong.
Richie’s Sherlock Holmes, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., is a perfect addition to the entire collection of Sherlock Holmes-related movies and shows just because the director did a brilliant job letting the character adapt to the features that are always there in Ritchie’s movies.
It might have been a pinch of Ritchie’s own vision that made his Sherlock Holmes so compelling and attractive, and good thing it actually did.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011)
A sequel to the 2009 movie, A Game of Shadows came off the raving success of its predecessor, but couldn’t surpass it or even reach the same level.
While Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law’s performances were still on top, the movie received mostly mixed reviews, criticising its plot line and poor use of several supporting characters.
However, the sequel is still a great watch for those who miss Downey Jr. and Law’s unmatched chemistry on screen waiting for the release of a third movie (which has remained in production hell ever since A Game of Shadows premiered back in 2011).
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
A rare finding in Guy Ritchie’s list of movie credits, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a posh spy movie that might have brought Henry Cavill even closer to his potential role of James Bond sometime in the future.
Also starring a bunch of other prominent figures like Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki and Hugh Grant, the film follows CIA agent Napoleon Solo and KGB agent Illya Kuryakin who must put their personal issues with each other aside as they both try to prevent a nuclear catastrophe caused by a mysterious criminal organization.
Even though Guy Ritchie isn’t that much about spy stories anyway, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is definitely a worthy watch you might not want to miss on Netflix.
Snatch (2000)
Starring Jason Statham, Brad Pitt and Benicio del Toro, Snatch came as Ritchie’s second feature movie and quickly established his position as one of the future masters of British criminal flicks.
The movie carries on the legacy of the director’s first ever film, a 1998 neo-noir black comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, offering another refreshing perspective of the criminal world powered by compelling and intriguing gangsters.
