1. 'The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain', 2019
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 97%

On November 19, 2011, Kenneth Chamberlain, a retired Marine who suffered from a heart defect, accidentally triggered his medical alarm. The White Plains PD responded to the call, but Chamberlain refused to let them into his home.
After an hour and a half, the police broke down the door. Chamberlain resisted, and he was shot. It is believed that racist bias on the part of the officers played a role. The officers were not charged, claiming they were following protocol.
Chamberlain's family fought for justice until 2021, appealing to the attorney general and filing civil lawsuits. It was only after the murder of George Floyd in 2020 that their case received serious legal attention.
