5 Hit Movies You Can’t Miss on Netflix in February
The streaming is getting those Oscar bait movies after all.
A whole list of previous years’ major hits is finally coming to streaming platforms, and February might be a really good month for those who have a Netflix subscription.
Some of those new arrivals are box office legends while others once were considered for the Oscars race (with one of the latter ones becoming the 2020 ceremony’s biggest winner).
Anyway, all of them are definitely worth revisiting, and Netflix is giving us a good chance to do so.
Parasite
Five years after its triumphant win at the Oscars, Bong Joon-ho's dark comedy Parasite remains one of the best movies of the last decade and a unique cinematic experience delving into issues like class disparity and costs of privilege.
Four-time Oscar winner, including in the Best Picture category, Parasite follows the Kim family who lives in a semi-basement flat and unsuccessfully tries to make their ends meet when a family friend comes along with a very promising job offer.
The movie has been on Netflix since February 1.
The Founder
Released back in 2016, The Founder stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, a businessman who, having accidentally stopped by a dying hamburger stand, decides to give it a chance and turns the diner into a world-famous fast food empire the McDonald brothers couldn’t even dream of.
However, soon Kroc realises that there’s no more need for the initial owners’ to stay in there and drives them out of the business. The movie didn’t find much success in the box office, but did just fine with critics and viewers, earning positive reviews.
The Founder is available for watching on Netflix since February 2.
Spencer
The second part of Pablo Larraín’s trilogy about the 20th century’s iconic women, Spencer sees Kristen Stewart ’s Princess Diana as her personal crisis starts unfolding once she considers divorcing then Prince Charles and exiting the Royal family.
The movie came out in 2021 and was generally thought to be a serious Oscar bait, but didn’t get any nomination after all. Spencer will land on Netflix on February 8.
Train to Busan
A South Korean horror never disappoints, and Train to Busan is the proof. Starring Squid Game ’s Gong Yoo, the movie follows Seok-woo, a divorced father whose plan to let his daughter spend her birthday with her mother in another city goes completely wrong once their train gets into the epicenter of the zombie apocalypse.
Train to Busan was a major hit at the world box office and South Korea’s highest-grossing film of 2016. The movie will be available for watching on Netflix starting from February 11.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Following the raving success of the franchise’s third movie that premiered back in December, Netflix is about to bring in some nostalgia tempting its viewers to revisit previous installments.
Released in 2022, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 once again follows the title character’s adventures while he, accompanied by his friend Tails, is set to find Master Emerald before Robotnik and his accomplice Knuckles the Echidna get there first.
The sequel was a massive hit too, garnering more than $400 million in the box office across the world, and is now set to land on Netflix on February 28.
