The six-episode miniseries tells the story of London police officer John River. The man's job is very unusual, because his unique gift allows him to see the souls of the murdered people whose cases he deals with.

It is not easy to work in the police force with such abilities, and therefore, while investigating crimes, John dreams more than anything else of getting rid of the visions of the ghosts of those who have never been able to find peace, either in this world or in the next.

2. Shetland, 2013-...

The series is set on the picturesque Shetland Islands. The story centers on Inspector Jimmy Perez, a native of Shetland who has lived on the Scottish mainland for many years.

After the death of his wife, leaving him as the sole parent of his daughter Cassie, Perez returns to Shetland to take charge of the local police station. He and his colleagues investigate local mysterious crimes that reveal many of the secrets of this archipelago.

The work of the employees of one of the police stations in Manchester is not easy, and when a serial killer appears on the streets of the city, the situation becomes critical.

The main character, ambitious detective Vivienne Deering, takes over the investigation. She has been serving the city's law enforcement for years and dreams of a promotion. But just as the coveted position seems closer than ever, a mistake casts a shadow over her career.

At first, a new series of crimes gives the investigator a chance to restore her professional reputation. But gradually the case begins to take on a personal nature.

4. Happy Valley, 2014-2023

Catherine is a police officer. She is divorced and trying to recover from her daughter's suicide that happened eight years ago.

One day, Kevin, an accountant, comes to the station to report a crime. Later, an unexpected detail is revealed: the crime is connected to Kevin's once-conceived plan to kidnap his boss's daughter and use the ransom to pay for a private school for his own children.

Now that plan has been carried out, only not by Kevin himself, but by a local drug dealer. At the same time, it turns out that the man who abused Catherine's daughter is preparing to be released from prison, and the woman intends to bring him to justice.

5. White House Farm, 2020

The series is based on real events. In August 1985, five members of the Bamber family were murdered at White House Farm in Essex. All the evidence pointed to the daughter, who had been in a psychiatric hospital the year before, as the killer.

But one of the detectives rejects this version, suspecting that there is more to the case. His persistence is not in vain: he finds evidence of the guilt of another suspect.

White House Farm will appeal to those who were captivated by the second season of Monsters. The projects, like the real-life stories behind them, are similar – they prove how subjective our view of reality is, and how difficult it is sometimes to get at the truth.
