Can't wait for the new season of Love, Death & Robots? Or are you looking forward to the new inventive sci-fi series from Apple TV+? Good news – they will all see the light of day in May.

May promises to be a hot month for high-profile premieres. We are in for both original stories as well as new seasons of beloved hits like Poker Face. Mark your calendars, movie buffs, there are many projects that deserve your special attention.

1. Poker Face Season 2

Release Date: May 8

Streaming Platform: Peacock

Two years ago, Knives Out franchise creator Rian Johnson resurrected the mystery subgenre of howcathem – where the viewers immediately know the criminal, and the plot focuses on the main character's attempts to figure out who the culprit is.

Then Poker Face hit the small screen – a mystery show about a woman with an incredible ability to sense other people's lies. It will be interesting to see what new things Johnson has in store for us over the next 12 episodes.

One thing we do know for sure is that there will be plenty of star cameos. The second season will feature Awkwafina, Giancarlo Esposito and Simon Helberg, among others.

2. Murderbot

Release Date: May 16

Streaming Platform: Apple TV+

In a dystopian future, the android Murderbot is going through an identity crisis: he managed to hack his own system and free himself from the orders of an evil corporation, but he is in no hurry to do the same for his fellow robots. Instead, he binge-watches soap operas and observes people.

The new Apple TV+ series is an adaptation of the novel The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. Murderbot looks like one of the dark horses of the month: either an original comedy about an introverted robot or a big-budget failure for Apple TV+.

3. Love, Death & Robots Season 4

Release Date: May 15

Streaming Platform: Netflix

The new season of Netflix's cult animated anthology will feature ten episodes from a variety of directors and studios in styles ranging from hyper-realistic CGI to low-frame-rate cel shading.

The first episode, directed by David Fincher, will feature a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert, and in one of the next episodes we will hear the voice of Mr. Beast. It probably doesn't sound very exciting, but let's hope for at least one surefire hit.

4. Sirens

Release Date: May 22

Streaming Platform: Netflix

The creator of the miniseries Maid, Molly Smith Metzler is coming back with a new project.

Sirens is the story of two estranged sisters: when their father falls ill, the older one (Meghann Fahy) visits the younger one (Milly Alcock) and is surprised by her place of work: she is the personal assistant of a wealthy woman (Julianne Moore) who has built a female cult around herself.

Sirens is a miniseries with a complete story, which tends towards social satire and black comedy, and not quasi-religious thriller, as the synopsis might suggest.

5. Overcompensating

Release Date: May 15

Streaming Platform: Prime Video

Two very different freshmen who become roommates – a popular athlete and a quiet guy determined to change, try to adjust to wild campus life. Sounds like the male equivalent of the just-cancelled comedy The Sex Lives of College Girls? Maybe, but it's not quite that simple.

Behind the 2000s comedy-style premise is a new A24 project with supporting cast members Kyle MacLachlan and Connie Britton and a soundtrack written by last year's biggest pop star, Charli XCX.
