In order to learn more about the book, Diana must immerse herself in the world of magic once more. She is aided by Matthew Clairmont, a geneticist and vampire.

Initially, Warner Bros. acquired the rights to adapt Deborah Harkness's All Souls Trilogy – the producers planned to launch a new franchise that would become a guilty pleasure for Twilight fans.

However, in 2018, Sky One bought the rights and turned the books into a series starring Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode.
