Andrew Scott stars as Tom Ripley in this TV adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Tom Ripley is a talented con man hired by a wealthy industrialist to go to Italy and bring back his son. But once he's in this world of fraud and deceit, can he really just do the job and come home?

Shot entirely in black and white to reflect its 1960s setting and atmosphere, the series was written by Steven Zaillian, the author of such masterpieces as Gangs of New York, The Irishman, American Gangster and Schindler's List.

2. Unlocked: A Jail Experiment

Release date: April 10

8 episodes

This documentary has sparked huge debates in some areas. Veteran Arkansas Sheriff Eric Higgins designed a social experiment to see if it would help reduce recidivism.

Prisoners were given the freedom to come and go from their cells as they pleased and more autonomy over how they lived their lives while incarcerated. The series goes behind the scenes of the experiment, talking to those involved and seeing what difference it made to life in prison and the recidivism rates it was trying to tackle.

3. Good Times

Release date: April 12

10 episodes

An animated reimagining of the popular 1970s sitcom of the same name. The series follows the lives of the Evans family as they navigate the realities of life in a Chicago housing project.

The show contains all the contemporary struggles and strife you'd expect from a commentary on the modern world, with the irreverent animation allowing the producers to push some boundaries and include a healthy dose of humor.

Similar to shows like King of the Hill and The Simpsons, this animated series transcends its genre and is somehow made believable through impressive characterization and great writing. At the end of the day, it's a show about getting on with life and getting through the day with the love of a family.

4. Dead Boy Detectives

Based on DC Comics characters created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, this supernatural comedy-drama is set in the same universe as The Sandman.

Relative newcomers George Rexstrew and Jayden Revri star as Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two ghost detectives. Born decades apart, the pair reunite after death and agree to stay on Earth and investigate paranormal occurrences rather than disappear into thin air.

It's a supernatural teen drama that also stars Briana Cuoco and will appeal to fans of shows like The Sandman, as well as those who enjoyed Good Omens and similar shows.
