5 Planned & Confirmed 'John Wick' Projects to Wait for After 'Ballerina'
Lionsgate plans massive expansion of the John Wick universe – here are all the projects you need to know about.
Ballerina, a spinoff of John Wick, ended with an open finale that hinted at a sequel. After taking revenge on her father's killer, mercenary Eve Macarro found herself in an even more dangerous situation.
Lionsgate has ambitious plans for expanding the franchise. Here are movies and TV series creator of John Wick, Chad Stahelski, has planned.
1. 'John Wick: Chapter 5'
Status: Confirmed
In the fourth John Wick movie, Keanu Reeves' character broke free from the influence of the High Table. However, he was seriously injured and presumably died during the final battle. A popular theory suggests that Winston helped Wick fake his death so he could retire.
In April 2025, Lionsgate officially greenlitJohn Wick: Chapter 5, confirming the theory about the fake death. Keanu Reeves will reprise his role.
Stahelski said that he will not continue the High Table storyline in John Wick: Chapter 5 because Wick no longer has unfinished business with the organization. The director intends to tell a new story.
In Ballerina, an influential group called The Cult was introduced. Stahelski may delve into its history in the fifth film. John Wick crossed paths with The Cult when he helped Eve. If Ballerina 2 is not confirmed, Eve's story could be concluded in John Wick: Chapter 5.
2. 'Ballerina 2'
Status: Not Confirmed
Currently, Ballerina 2 has not been officially confirmed. However, director Len Wiseman has expressed interest in continuing the story of Eve Macarro. According to Wiseman, Eve will face severe consequences for the events in Hallstatt.
The consequences may also affect John Wick since he helped Eve, which the leaders of The Cult will probably find out about.
Wiseman also said that Eve's mother, who is connected to The Cult, may appear in Ballerina 2. Although Eve believes her mother to be dead, her fate has not been confirmed.
3. 'John Wick: Under the High Table'
Status: Confirmed
In 2025, it was confirmed that the series John Wick: Under the High Table is in the works. The series will be a direct continuation of John Wick: Chapter 4. It will show how the High Table is affected by John Wick's departure from the organization.
John Wick: Under the High Table will be the second TV series in the franchise after the unsuccessful prequel, The Continental, which will not receive a second season.
The TV series received a cool reception, earning a 63% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Chad Stahelski was also dissatisfied with The Continental. He had no influence on the production of Season 1, and the studio did not take his comments into account during development.
4. A Caine Movie
Status: Confirmed
Lionsgate announced a spin-off movie featuring the blind mercenary Caine, played by Donnie Yen and introduced in John Wick: Chapter 4. Yen plans to direct the film himself.
The mercenary is an old friend of John Wick's, and he helped his friend kill Marquis Vincent de Gramont, a high-ranking member of the High Table. Thanks largely to Caine, Wick received the right to freedom.
In his solo movie, Caine will face Akira, played by Rina Sawayama. In John Wick: Chapter 4, Caine killed Akira's father, Koji Shimazu.
5. An Animated Prequel Movie
Status: Confirmed
In April 2025, an animated prequel movie was confirmed. Keanu Reeves will voice the main character. The movie does not yet have a release date.
It will depict the "impossible task" that Wick completed, which allowed him to retire and live happily with his wife, Helen, before the events of the first John Wick movie.
