Thunderbolts had both funny Easter eggs that paid homage to classic movies and cleverly hidden details that meant more than they seemed at first glance.

The movies and TV shows of the Marvel Cinematic Universe always have a lot of Easter eggs that tie them together. Thunderbolts is no exception.

We've collected the most intriguing of them, including the small but important one that could tease a new superhero.

1. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine's Collection of Artifacts

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine hosted the Honoring New York Heroes event to improve relations with members of Congress. The event took place in a room with artifacts from the Battle of New York in the movie The Avengers.

Here you can see Iron Man's helmet, banners with Captain America's shield, Loki's scepter, Chitauri sear-cuffs, and the emblem that was on Avengers Tower. Valentina bought the building, and it is now called Watchtower.

By the way, Loki's scepter may be a fake – in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron, it was broken by Ultron.

2. Mel's Bird Necklace

In Thunderbolts, Valentina's assistant was a girl named Mel, played by Geraldine Viswanathan. She didn't like her boss's dirty methods, so she helped Bucky.

Mel wore a necklace with a bird on it – this may be a hint that in future projects Geraldine Viswanathan will become Melissa Gold – a superheroine and former villain nicknamed Songbird. In Marvel Comics, she was part of the Thunderbolts team.

3. “On Your Left”

You, of course, remember the hilarious scene when Steve Rogers was jogging and every time he passed Sam Willson, he would say "On your left" to him. We heard that joke again in Avengers: Endgame, when Sam said the phrase to Steve before the final battle.

In Thunderbolts, John Walker says the same phrase to Yelena when they are searching for a device to block Ava's ability to pass through objects.

4. Bucky The Terminator

As the Thunderbolts escaped from Valentina's vault, they were pursued by armed men in cars, but the team was saved by Bucky Barnes. He arrived on a motorcycle and began shooting at the pursuers with a shotgun.

In this scene, Bucky was wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket. Bucky's appearance resembles the Terminator, which is ironic considering the superhero's cybernetic arm. And the chase scene was filmed in the spirit of the James Cameron action films with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

5. The Avengers' Original Score

In the finale, the Thunderbolts were introduced to the press as the New Avengers by Valentina. Yelena and her friends agreed to form an alliance with her. The scene featured the Avengers theme song composed by Alan Silvestri.
