From rappers to masked cowboys, nothing here is expected.

Curtis 50 Cent Jackson is putting on the gloves — literally — as he joins the cast of Street Fighter, Legendary’s live-action take on Capcom’s iconic video game franchise.

The rapper-turned-TV-mogul is set to play Balrog, the disgraced boxer turned bodyguard to the villain. According to sources, Jackson is already in intense training for the role and will perform his own stunts. It’s a bold casting choice — but, astonishingly, not the boldest.

That honour might go to one of several other names on the call sheet. Jason Momoa is reportedly set to play the electrified green beast Blanka. Teen heartthrob Noah Centineo steps in as Ken. Country singer Orville Peck — known for his velvet voice and signature leather mask — will take on Vega. Add in WWE icon Roman Reigns as Akuma, Warrior’s Andrew Koji as Ryu, and rising star Callina Liang as Chun-Li, and you’ve got a cast list that feels more like a fever dream than a fighting roster. But maybe that’s the point?

With director Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show) at the helm and production kicking off this August in Australia, it’s hard to imagine Street Fighter going the safe or expected route. Plot details are under wraps, but Capcom is closely involved, and the tone may well lean into self-aware, high-energy chaos — fitting, given the eclectic casting.
