There’s no wonder if The Sopranos is the show you’ll never rewatch even if you loved it. The show is so tough, it can be difficult to get over. Especially when it comes to these 7 scenes.

The Sopranos is often considered one of the greatest shows ever created, but it’s also one of the toughest. The story of Tony Soprano, the mobster whose life is full of danger and inevitable deaths, is really captivating as much as it is threatening.

Tony Soprano is definitely a unique character, who is sort of an antagonist, but you can’t stop rooting for him even though you know he is the bad guy. That probably has something to do with James Gandolfini’s brilliant acting, but is also because life isn’t all black and white and sometimes you end up in a grey zone.

There are many scenes in the series connected to Tony that make you gasp, but there are also many those about other characters that really make you want to touch grass after you see them.

Here’s my list of scenes that I never came back from.

1. Melfi’s Assault

One of the most heartbreaking storylines in the show is the one with the sexual assault on Dr. Melfi. While she was walking to her car through the parking garage she was suddenly attacked by an unknown man.

The scene is absolutely brutal and violent, it almost makes you want to close your eyes, when you see him grabbing her from behind and dragging on the stairway. Not something you would ever want to witness again.

2. “We used to play catch”

The scene towards the show’s finale, when Junior was already at home and Tony was visiting him. That day he finally got the answer to the question “Don’t you love me” he once asked Junior.

When seeing that his uncle’s dementia was for real, Tony is devastated for hating him so much for the last years. And the fact that Junior only remembered how he used to play catch with his nephew, and no mobster war, makes us believe he genuinely cared for Tony.

3. Tracee’s Death

Another scene that is hard to watch is the death of Tracee. It was actually a brutal murder done by Ralphie Cifaretto at the back of the Bing. Being heavily drugged, he beat a young girl he was dating at the time to death. A really violent moment you want to wash away from your memory.

4. Tony Saving AJ from the Pool

You can think what you want about about AJ, but the scene with his attempted suicide is devastating. Being in his absolutely troubled moment, AJ decides to kill himself, and Tony comes home at the same time. It’s truly rare seeing Tony nurturing his kid and being genuinely worried about his well-being.

“This is such a heart wrenching scene. It's one of those scenes in the series where you get to see Tony as something other than a heartless gangster. For all his faults and how terrible he is, underneath all that is someone who loves his family and could've chosen a better life,” one redditor said.

5. Anytime Chris Hits Ade

What the two of them had was a textbook toxic relationship, and I couldn’t stop feeling bad for Ade all the time. She was always caring for Chrissy, trying to make his life better, helping him with everything. But I think he never valued that and under the pressure of older mobsters he was trying to be as violent.

When she told him about Danielle being a fed he almost kills her, and seeing she is still there for him after that is just brutal.

6. Syl Driving with Ade to Kill Her

Another most devastating scene in the entire series is the one where Syl drives with Ade and we realise soon enough what it means. The murder happens outside the screen, but it’s enough to feel heartbroken for Ade’s fate.
