Tom Selleck is a prominent American actor and movie producer. You probably know him best for playing the detective Thomas Magnum in the TV show Magnum, P.I. back in the '80s. That role not only made him super famous but also got him an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Selleck has done some other cool stuff on TV and in movies too. For example, he portrayed Peter Mitchell in Three Men and a Baby in '87, and he also starred in the sequel. Plus, he appeared now and then as Dr. Richard Burke in Friends from '94 to 2000.

And of course, in more recent times, Selleck has been making a name for himself as Frank Reagan in the CBS police procedural Blue Bloods, which started back in 2010 and is still on the air.

Since Magnum, P.I. is such a legendary show and Tom Selleck is a legendary actor, it's no surprise that Family Guy couldn't resist having some fun with him. Here are some of the top times Family Guy made jokes and references about Tom Selleck.

Tom Selleck Strikes Back

Family Guy also utilized live-action footage of Tom Selleck from the 1989 movie Her Alibi where in the 20th episode of season 8. The whole episode is a parody of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.

Spoon-Feeding Selleck

In the episode Da Boom, Lois Griffin recalls the food they once wasted. A hilarious flashback shows Peter trying to spoon-feed Selleck's character, Magnum, through the TV screen.

Bad Kind of Commercials

In season 22, episode 3, Family Guy dabbles in satire by mocking Tom Selleck's real-life reverse mortgage commercials for the American Advisors Group.

The episode portrays a fictional Selleck persuading Peter Griffin about the virtues of reverse mortgages.

Though not manipulated, Peter is undeniably influenced, leading to a hilarious turn of events when he and Mayor West decide to confront Tom Selleck after losing the Griffin house to a reverse mortgage.

Peter and Mr. Mayor saddle up for a horseback ride to track down Tom Selleck and retrieve their money, making for a humorous narrative of their encounter with the celebrity.

In the episode Cat Fight, Vera mentions to Lois that the fresh air at Sunrise Woods Bible Camp is meant to help one forget about Tom Selleck.

Magnum's Messy Hands

Season 7 episode 15 features a spoof of Magnum P.I. titled "Magnum B.M." In the humorous scene, Magnum is questioned about a smudge he left at a crime scene, to which he cheekily admits to having "poo" on his hand.

Blockbuster's Last Laugh

Employees at the last remaining Blockbuster store poke fun at Selleck's film Mr. Baseball in the episode Bend or Blockbuster. Mr. Baseball is a 1992 comedy film starring Tom Selleck as an aging Major League Baseball player who is traded to a Japanese team, the Chunichi Dragons.
