7 TV Shows You Can Watch on Prime for Free in December 2023

Alias (2001)

Before he got really famous with Lost, JJ Abrams created Alias, starring Jennifer Garner. Garner plays CIA double-agent Sydney Bristow in this espionage thriller. While it features the typical Abrams twists and turns, Alias wraps up all of its loose plot threads in a tight five seasons of over-the-top action and double-crosses.

Fun Fact: Then-unknown Bradley Cooper appears in four of the five seasons.

All Saints (1999)

This medical drama focuses on Ward 17 of the fictional All Saints Western General Hospital in Australia, run by the compassionate Terri Sullivan and a large ensemble of doctors and nurses.

After the first five years, All Saints shifted its focus to the hospital’s emergency center. In spite of the change and its frequent turnovers in its cast, the constant drama kept audiences coming back for years.

Fun Fact: Jeremy Cumpston, who played Connor Costello, is actually a qualified doctor in real life!

Rescue Special Ops (2009)

There are paramedics, and then there are paramedics who abseil, dive, and helicopter into dangerous locations. The team in Rescue Special Ops are an elite, trained force that faces risky situations daily, and the terrific blend of action and interpersonal drama makes this show unique.

Fun Fact: In the second episode, thrill seekers are saved from a flooded storm drain. In reality, the episode was filmed at a waterpark!

White Collar (2009)

Con man, art thief, and gentleman criminal Neal Caffrey escapes from his maximum security prison by walking out the front door. When his nemesis at the FBI catches him, Caffrey offers a deal: in exchange for his freedom, he’ll help the FBI catch other people like him.

With serious talks of a revival in process, this is a great time to return to this fun crime procedural.

Fun Fact: The show was inspired by the life story of Frank Abagnale Jr, a counterfeiter and con artist.

Person of Interest (2012)

John Reese used to be Special Forces and CIA; now he is living on the streets. There, he is found by genius billionaire Harold Finch, who has built a software capable of predicting crimes before they happen.

Although it started out as a cop show with a twist, by the time the show wrapped The Machine had evolved and Person of Interest became a serious Sci-Fi procedural about A.I. and free will.

Fun Fact: Harold Finch’s fiancée on the show is played by the actor’s real-life wife.

Fringe (2008)

Number of Seasons: 5

The Fringe Division of the FBI uses highly speculative ('fringe') science to investigate cases with paranormal implications. As the series went on it delved into increasingly complicated storylines, away from monster-of-the-week episodes into much more complicated arcs.

Although the ratings were never stellar, Fringe maintains a staunch fanbase to this day.

Fun Fact: The show has spawned three novels, two comic book series, and an alternate reality game.

Halo ( 2022)

Let’s end with one new show – though it’s based on a classic.

In the much anticipated adaptation of the video game series, humanity is living in the 26th century and waging war against an alliance of alien races. The television series takes place in the same world as the video games but on its own timeline, meaning that original choices are made with the plot and characters as the story develops.

Fun Fact: Jen Taylor reprises her role as Cortana from the video game series.
