8 Best 2000s Slashers to Watch if You're Feeling Nostalgic After 'Final Destination Bloodlines'

Let's revisit the classics and see for yourself that the best slasher movies were made 20 years ago.
The long-awaited sixth film in the Final Destination franchise, subtitled Bloodlines, was released in theaters on May 16. The movie received an impressive 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Recently, horror films have been leaning more towards slow burners and psychological subtexts. Inspired by Final Destination Bloodlines, we suggest revisiting the good old slashers of the 2000s.
1. 'House of Wax', 2005

Carly, her twin brother Nick, her boyfriend Wade, and their friends are on their way to a football game in Louisiana. On the way, the group stops for the night. The next morning, they discover that Wade's car is broken.
He heads to the nearby town of Ambrose to find spare parts and discovers that only two people live there: mechanic Bo and his taciturn brother. The brothers are busy luring tourists to town and dousing them in wax to add to their collection of figures.
2. 'Wrong Turn', 2003

Chris is in a hurry to get to his business meeting, but there's a terrible traffic jam on the highway. Apparently, there was an accident, so Chris decides to take an old bypass route he noticed on the map.
Soon, he comes across a group of young people who took the same route. Their car ran over barbed wire stretched along the road.
They decide to look for help in the forest together. Not far away, they find a house. Inside, they find barbed wire and human remains in the refrigerator. At that moment, the owners return home.

In the '90s and 2000s, two serial killers were brought to trial in Australia. These two cases inspired director Greg McLean to create a slasher film about a killer named Mick Taylor.
The film follows a group of tourists who come to see one of the world's largest meteorite craters in the Wolf Creek National Park. In the middle of their trip, their car breaks down, and a hermit offers to help them. At first, no one suspected anything was amiss – and then it was too late.

The friends go there and find the hostel. However, they end up in a trap because the hostel is actually a front for an organization that kidnaps tourists and sells them to wealthy clients who want to participate in torture and murder.

Following mass unrest caused by the election results, a group of robbers fled France. Two of the robbers decided to wait in a secluded place while the others went to the hospital. They stop at a motel in the countryside near the French border to wait for the others.
They do not suspect, however, that the owners of the motel are a family of sadistic cannibals.

Brother Darry and sister Trish are driving home for the holidays through rural Florida. Along the way, they encounter an aggressive driver in an odd truck.
Later, at an abandoned church, they see the truck again. The driver dumps something wrapped in bloody sheets into a pit. Darry's curiosity leads him into an underground tunnel where he finds a creepy burial site of sewn-together bodies.
Realizing that they have encountered something terrible, the siblings try to find help. They meet a fortune teller named Jezelle who reveals that they are being haunted by a monster that awakens every 23 years for 23 days.

Two friends, Marie and Alexia, went to Alexia's family's country house for the weekend to study for their upcoming exams in peace.
However, their serenity turns to horror when a maniac driving an old truck around the neighborhood breaks into the house. The intruder first kills Alexia's parents and then kidnaps Marie.
Marie manages to escape the killer but doesn't run away; she decides to save her friend. She calls the police and drives to the scene in a stolen car. But at some point, it becomes clear that there is no maniac.

Jenny and Steve are going on a romantic weekend getaway to a country house on the shore of a picturesque lake. But on the first day, local teenagers disturb their rest by playing loud music, bringing an aggressive dog, and staring at Jenny.
Their attempts to talk to the teenagers lead to nothing. The next day, they find a shard of a beer bottle in the wheel of their jeep and bugs in a container of food.
From that moment on, an adrenaline-fueled race for survival begins, in which only the final frame will reveal who was the victim and who was the pursuer.
